You guys are too funny! My sister would say "nunya" as in "none of your business" if someone was so rude to ask why she wouldn't eat something. You know, it is natural to be curious about people but I can't get over how many people these days feel entitled to ask you anything they want to know!!!

I have been telling people I don't eat sugar anymore. They have no come back. What can they say? "Oh you should eat sugar, it's good for you?"

Good for you Barb... that's usually what I say, too... "I haven't eaten sugar for a while now and it makes me sick if I do." It's a good one because they don;t have a response - AND it's a "think-prompter"... you can tell people walk away from that comment thinking about it (my goal).

I WISH I had the nerve to make some of the comments I wish I could. Living and working overseas - most people in most cultures completely DON'T understand the whole concept of eating healthily (no sugars). If we Americans think we are destroying our health en masse... we are leading the rest of the world down the garden path as well. Lots of countries I've lived in used to just eat healthy foods and in the last ten years have begun to stock the grocery stores with junk, junk, junk...

Hugs,
Rachel

I alternate. Sneers for some. "Go to Hell," for others.

My DH got into it last night with a relative through marriage. We were at a family christening party and one of the ladies noticed both my dh and I had lost a considerable amount of weight. She asked him how both of us had done it...he said his was through just cutting snacking out and mine was through doing the Atkins' plan. She must have seen red. Gotta tell you now that she and her dh have been potato farmers their entire lives(the're 64 now) and she was p....d. Her first comment to his was "Do you know what's going to happen to her when she goes off that?" in a very aggressive stance. He got very defensive at that point and actually hurled some negative comments at her about the role of potatoes in our lives. He also told her that this is not a diet that I'm going to go off but has become the way I eat now. He gets it, he really gets it. While I would have preferred that he didn't get into the potato thing with her, I was pretty happy with him.

I love fighting with potato farmers, It's so easy to get a rhizome out of them.

So Sorry but this just kept going through my head and if I hadn't posted it I would have exploded. LOL

You guys are funny.

I've been seriously pi**ed at someone from another board. It's a cooking board, and I posted a question about low carb recipes. He is new there, but had to use his first posts attacking my way of eating, telling me it's unhealthy, it will cost taxpayers lots of money because all us low carb eaters will end up sick, etc, etc. Very rude. And all I'd asked for were recipes. I don't care to engage this guy in a discussion of the pros and cons of eating this way.

What's funny to me is that most of the threads are about distinctly unhealthy but delicious foods...and he's never said a word about those. Chocolate cake? Fine. I think someone has a major axe to grind.

No one in my personal life has bothered me about how I'm eating. It's obvious to them that I'm healthier.

Oh Rob, that cracked me up too!!!!

I plan on adding back a potato every now and then after I reach my goal weight. I can't wait. I just won't eat any more of those fake potato products like instant mashed potatoes, chips and pringles.
