I haven't done any measurements, going to buy a tape thingy tomorrow. But even though I've only lost 9 pounds in the past 12 days, my skin on my stomach is sagging, I noticed it when I got out of the shower, and it looked just horrible (but I am glad that I am losing, don't get me wrong). I exercise 5 days a week, treadmill, and yoga, and I drink sooooooo much water, that I think I'm going to pop. I use lotion religiously.

Will it be like this forever, or will it tighten up? And if it does WHEN? lol

I to have a little sagging. I tried weights but couldn't get the rythm in my exercise routine. But what little I did seem to make a difference. So starting monday I will try a new routine doing weights first thing in the morning.

Kristie,

As I understand it, as your fat breaks down there is a temporary loosening of the skin/fat cells. You look jiggly and squishy for a few days, then things start to firm up.

No science here, but I have read it... Give yourself a few more days, I'll bet you'll start tightening right up

Blessings!

I read somewhere - maybe in the OWL forum - about loose skin...and someone said that once you get down to your goal weight or it was in an article - the surgeons who do the tuck sugery tell you to wait a year to give your body time to tone...so I guess perhaps maybe it taks about a year for that to tone...there was also a link to ediets.com to an article about how to tone loose skin...you might want to check that out as well...

Thank you thank you, I was getting quite scared here. And you said jiggly, ooooooh, hubby seen me it this morning, maybe it was my screaming at the sight in the mirror that brought him in, and he said I look like one of those "jello jigglers", but in his defense, he said he was "proud" of me. But a jello jiggler, hmmm, he should think twice next time

Oh, guys can be sooooo tactful! But yes, after you've reached goal, give yourself a year, then whatever "jiggle" is left is probably all yours. But honestly, would you rather be fat and smooth--or svelte and healthy, with a little extra skin that you can hide under your clothes It's a little harder to hide our fat, isn't it.

I am not completely sure, but I believe I read somewhere that taking extra vitamin C could help. I know that it does strenghten the collagen under the skin, but I am not sure how much help it would be in something like this. Anyone else with some more medical knowledge want to chime in?

A little time can be your best friend. Last summer, I was heavier and had saggier skin from the rapid weight loss of late 2002/early 2003. My weight loss has slowed since then, and my skin is a lot tigher in the areas where it was saggy before.

I've lost so sloooooooowly that saggy skin isn't a problem, at least on my body. I have noticed a bit of a waddle forming under my chin though. But that just has to do with my age, drats. AND I STILL have a bit of the family curse.........JOWELS!!! grrrrrrr. Oh well, I may have to live with those, thanks to my ancestry.

to firm up the "jiggles" in your tummy I'd try to do some exercise: do crunches, get a workout video, etc.

make sure you're getting a lot of protein to help build up muscle (and hey you ought to be getting protein anyway), and muscle will come in to replace all that jiggle! Maybe not all of it, but it sure helped me a lot. I do 15 minutes of stomach floor exercises per day (my stomach was pretty strong to start with, so don't freak if you can't do that much, I seem to be some sort of freak of nature than I can do crunches all day and night if I wanted).

getting a good amount of fiber and vitamin C can also help.

good luck!

Get some 5 or 8 lbs dumbells from like.....Walmart or Tarjaaaay or a sporting goods store. Do 8 different upper body routines, and add 2 more reps each time you do them. You should do weights every other day or 3rd day, not everyday. The ones where you start with your waist bent at a 90 degree angle to the floor (you are looking at the floor) and have your elbow bent and pressed against your hip, and bring your arm straight back as far as you can lift it, is a good one for the triceps where most of us women grow our "wings". Do it til it hurts a bit, go a little further and then stop. Write how many you did in a journal. Then you can add 2 more the next time you do them. I do one arm at a time and us my other hand to balance myself.
