In my local Sunday Newspaper today, there was an article on the front page about the "lo carb craze" that's sweeping the nation. It stated that most local physicians(I guess they didnt ask MY Dr) agreed that the Atkins plan was unsafe because it was lacking in fiber("severely restricts vegetables" and it "didnt allow fruits". Also brought up that notion about hi fat & cholesterol, its hard on the kidneys and is really just a quick fix, because its impossible to do "this diet" long term. I'm thinking about writing a letter to the editor to tell them they should do better research before printing their one-sided articles. They didnt even refer to anyone who had lost weight on this woe. Oh well, I guess we all know the truth, thankfully.

A little knowledge is dangerous.

It's obvious that no extensive research has been done by a lot the media and they're going on opinion/info swayed by the lowfat movement. I frequently hear people tell me not to stay on LC for long term. I really think it's due to the misconception of LC being a diet of only meat.

Take care~

I agree to write that letter. I had an article a few weeks ago in my newspaper but they covered it ok.

I was looking through my adds in the newspaper today and came accross an add for Ruby Tuesdays. They showed a bunch of FFs along side a pic of a wrap and called all this low carb!

Blessings,

Carol

I would write a letter.....anybody who has done a modicum of research would learn that vegis are a very important part of the Atkins diet in ALL phases. The RDA of vegis is 3 to 5 servings (1/2 cup being a serving) We get that...and once past induction, adding low glycemic fruits are in order...raspberries etc.

Drives me crazy when these reporters don't do thier job...RESEARCH!!!

Carol....as long as those "french fries" were turnips....it is all good....Although I doubt it was. Kind of like ordering a wrap at Subway and they ask if you want chips! Just plain ignorant.
