Hello everyone. I'm Laura and I am new to this WOE. I was inspired by my mother who after years and years of being overweight and unhealthy lost an incredible 98 pounds on Atkins. I am currently at 165 having gained 20lbs in the past year. I hope to lose 30 pounds and become a more healthy, happy me! My questions are: what salad dressing is best for salads? Can you eat battered chicken? Can you order some of the low carb items (such as tortillas and such) on-line? Any input and help would be greatly appreciated.

Hiya Ghstgirl!
Welcome aboard and best of luck to you. Best dressings are a matter of personal preference. Oil and vinegar (not balsamic vinegar) are good, Italian (not low fat italian) is good, Bleu Cheese and Ranch... check the labels and avoid those that list sugar.

No, the batter on chicken is high in carbs. Fry up some of your own and leave the skin on, that's part of the fun!

You can order the tortillas and stuff online but they're not for induction so wait until your two weeks is up, then work them in cautiously. I'd give you the same advice about all of the low carb 'products', see what works for you, add them in one at a time, and stop eating them if your weight loss slows.

Best of luck!

Welcome!
May I suggest reading the book. See if your Mom can lend it to you. If not go out an buy it. I read DANDR all the time. I find new things in it every time it seems.
If you don't have a firm base on where to start, you will fail. LC isn't something you can just make up as you go along.
