I am having a really tough time today. I could just kill for a chocolate bar the size of my desk. Of course, the only thing stopping me is this is day 16. It took me this long just to lose 5 pounds. I don't want to gain any of that back. Nor do I want to have a few days to start over again to get back into ketosis. But man is this hard! What happened to the "after a couple of weeks the sweet cravings go away?"

It is difficult sometimes. I drink an Atkins chocolate shake. Maybe some veterans out there have some suggestions. Good luck!

Thank you Kristielee. I know that it is a no-no. But I just got a Diet Dr Pepper out of the vending machine. I guess that it is helping. A tad!

sometimes I just have to have a piece of choc.
See if anyone in your office has candy on their desk, one small hershey kiss isn't much, or if not, go buy a candy bar, eat 1/3 and throw the rest away, that way you are not eating the whole thing and you got your craving taken care of.

I am afraid to delve into the real thing. Two reasons, 1. I would not stop. and 2. just having the sugar free chocolate throws me out of ketosis. This is just a hard day. And PMS has not hit yet

I would buy some really great cocoa powder and start using that to satisfy chocolate cravings. Add it to whipped cream & splenda for a daily chocolate fix. Works great. I also have very high percent(85%) dark chocolate bar that I eat in moderation. Ten squares to the bar and I eat 2 squares at a time. The whole bar has only 12g. so 1/5 of it is fine.

you could try the sugar free chocolate pudding. That stuff is awesome if you can handle a little sugar alcohol...

I know this sounds weird, but I swear it works.
When you crave chocolate, try eating some sharp cheddar cheese. It has the same nutrient that the brain craves in chocolate.

Here's a great way to eat cheddar cheese: Fried Cheese

That cheese recipe is awesome! I put spinach salad in the bowl I make from it and chow down. Also, you can use it to dip in ranch dressing. That tastes fantastic, as well.

A question about the cheese. Can you make them smaller and use it as a chip for salsa? Just curious, because that is the biggest thing I miss about this in not having my tostito's

I know this sounds weird, but when i really HAVE TO HAVE that nasty choclate, I eat a pickle. A dill pickle takes the need for me away like it was never there. Just remember, we all have those days. Drink a lot of water, maybe one with a fiber addative (metamucial or something) because that fills your stomach and makes you feel full. What about an atkins bar??

Kristie,

Yes. And you can also make them in the microwave. Cut a piece of parchment paper to fit your turntable and put little piles of shredded cheese (mix 'em if you want) all over it. Nuke till past melted and let cool. They crisp up. (Specific times will vary depending on your microwave's wattage. Watch them once or twice and you'll "know" when to take them out.)

HTH

When I really want chocolate, I get out the unsweetened Hershey's cocoa powder, microwave it in some water, then add some cream and splenda to it. You can make it as strong as you like.
