Go to your local store and buy some ketone stix. You can get them at any Pharmacy. Follow the directions on the bottle.

Some other signs you may notice to tell you you are in ketosis:

1. your not hungry
2. you have a dry pasty taste in your mouth (often containing bad breath)

If you are staying under20 carbs then you are sure to be tehre.

Thanks I guess something is right I have lost about 10 in the first week or so, but i still get hungry especially at work I do a lot of physical work during the day. I drink about a gallon of water a day but have been maintaing under 20 a day so far. Should I been having more at my meals?

Wow! 10 in the first week, huh? Excellent!

If you're hungry, you should eat. This is the type of WOL that should not leave you wanting. Add some more meat and veggies into your meals, or make another meal. Dark, green, leafy veggies are almost a free food as far as carbs go. You can be under 20, but don't forget that in Induction you are allowed 20 for a reason...feel free to hit that limit.

Hi and welcome Meg! Congrats on a decision for better health!!

You got good info above...I know you just kinda wish a bell would go off when you hit ketosis!! Anyway, if you are counting all the carbs in everything you put in your mouth and staying around 20, you are most certainly in ketosis by now...it usually takes just a few days to burn up our glucose stores in the body and switch over to fat burning!! You should not be hungry, and if you are eat!! Keep good LC snacks on hand...hard boiled eggs, deviled eggs, nuts (after induction), string cheese, celery and cream cheese, veggies and dip, etc. Don't go more than 4 hours without eating something!!

HTH!
