Is anyone else having the same problem I am?? The weight and inches are slowly coming off but seem to be everywhere else and very little around the waist & hips(MY PROBLEM AREAS). Since starting Curves in the beginning of May I have lost 40 lbs. I am currently in the induction period of Atkins.

First of all, let me just say that 40 pounds is a great accomplishment, reguardless of WHERE it came off of. Maybe your body needs certin excersizes to get rid of those area's. I have the problem where my inches are all coming off my waist...great, right? No, not really. I loook like I'm wearing a corset or something all the time. I would love to loose some inches off the hips/theigh/booty area, but right now, my body is working on the stomach/waist area. Since I have really just started, I'm not sweating the small stuff. You're still in induction, right? Well, keep on keepin on and see what happens. EveryBODY is diffrent.

Erin,
We need to trade! I have no hips. (kind of built like a boy) But I have a lot of waist and belly! Guess where my weight is coming off? Yep, my none existent hips and butt area! Not to mention my breasts. (Like those could use to be smaller!)

Oh well! I will just keep on and see how 120 pounds looks on me. My DH already tells me to stop losing the weight now. He likes me to look like a woman not a 13 year old boy!

We will see...

Jen

Atkins since 11/11/03

I used to be indecisive...But now I'm not so sure!

I second the excersise. When I started on Sept 20th, my waist was 49 inches, and it stayed that way for a while even though I had lost 25 pounds. Around that time, someone suggested that I start abdominal crunches. I began to do them, and literally in 48-72 hours, I had lost an inch. By the next month, I had lost 4 inches.

My theory was that I had lost fat in that area, but my muscles had not yet tightened so it didn't show.

Just my .02

Cloude1, I'm having the same problem too. My waistline is slimming a bit but not like my legs, arms, even my fingers. I'm liking losing in my face too. I'm losing flabby stuff off my back area too. I feel like things are moving slowly for me but really it's only been 3 weeks today and I see a really difference. I have not started exercising yet but now that I lost my first 10 lbs and my motivation is sky high, I ordered those 8 minute routines last week and they could even be in my mailbox today. One of my goals ~ lose my bustline and get back my old golf swing. I sure miss my old golf swing.

HATE the belly! But, it is last to go. Keep it up and you will see results.

no doubt, the belly needs to go...
*sigh* I wish I had the metabolism of my dh, he started a week after me (I'm on my 3rd week, he on his 2nd) and he's already lost like 3 inches in his stomach.....his belly is just melting away. His 'man boobs' as he calls them are even almost gone...after 10 days... sheesh! but, I persevere.

This is the curse of all diets. The weight comes off all the wrong places first, and all the places you want it to come off of last. And sometimes it doesn't come off those places at all, even when you're otherwise stick-figure thin.

First of all congrats on the 40 pounds already lost from curves. My New Year's resolution was to add excersise minimally three days a week to the LC lifestyle that originated in September 03'. Well as you, my stomach and waist is the problem areas and my focus.
I started The Firm Abs on January 2nd and have been doing it now for 3 weeks. I will tell you as much as it "kicked my butt" it is really working. They only focus on your waist and stomach problem areas. I have four versions of The Firm and this is the only one that works for me, it specifically states, "Firm Abs".
I have always had a "tire" for a stomach, and never could imagine seeing any structure. I am seeing it slowly but surely, The Firm is working it's magic.
I have lost 45 pounds since starting my LC life, and let me tell you it is definitly worth it - Don't get discouraged, keep it up!

Glad you guys are all doing so well. Today I actually had someone tell me that they noticed that I was loosing some inches! I wish I had measured before I began, but you know how it goes. I wish I was loosing a little faster, but I suppose this isn't liposuction aferall. I am hoping to be down to 140 maybe by the summer, but that's a way off, and right now, I think I need to just get threw tomorrow. I actually cut out all the stuff with sugar alchoal in it thanks to you guys here. I'm still trying to resolve the whole thing about not eating when I'm bored.
I also noticed that if I check my keytones in the afternoon, it's MUCH darker than if I check it after dinner. Happen to anyone else? I'm wondering why that is in the fisrt place???

The darkness of the ketone strips is mainly dependant on your water intake. The more you drink, the more diluted they will be. Don't worry about the strips becoming too light as long as you are in ketois.

The one thing to keep in mind though is that having a dark reading can be a symptom that you are not getting enough water. The accepted recomendation is to divide your weight (in pounds) in half, and drink that many ounces of water a day.

I'm pretty sure the rule is to use the ketostix after dinner/before bed to get the most accurate reading.

And I also understood that the dilution of the urine had nothing to do with the color on the strip... I could be wrong, but I personally have used the stix during periods of heavy water intake (urine almost clear) and still turned the stix a deep, dark purple.

Hugs,
Rachel
