| Hello! I am also very glad you started this thread. I've been on Atkins two or three times before, and even though its worked wonders and I felt the healthiest I've ever felt in my life, I always reverted to old eating habits. I started up again on Dec. 1st and hopefully this time, with the help of you and all the other wonderful people here, we can all be successful. Its so hard, but I want to be a success story so bad! Let's all become one together. Best always, Lisa |

| Hi Barb, Yes i was checked for Hpylori, and so far the results have been negative. I am feeling better, but I felt even better when i was doing Atkins, so I intend to restart. I've changed my start date due to a lot of personal issues that were interferring with my ability to begin a new WOL. For that is what it has to be, not a "diet". i cannot try another "diet", becuase i can't live with the yo-yo effects I get from that method. I am totally committed to beginning a new year becoming a new me. I'm glad to have all of you for guidance and support along the way. | Karimah, I can't wait 'til you start this in earnest. I'll bet donuts to dollars your ulcer will get MUCH better after you settle into this WOL. I REALLY feel that processed carbs are very irritating to the digestive tract as is milk. I have heard of people getting all kinds of relief from this WOL on their digestive systems, such as: indigestion, Irritable Bowel Syndrome, Crohn's Disease, etc. And once you get that relief, why would anyone go back to their old ways. It's beyond my comprehension. READ up while you are waiting to go on this WOL. Don't wait toooooooooo long tho. You seem pumped up now. But absence maaaaaay make the heart grow weaker, Barb Atkins-3/14/03 174/146/135 5'2" "A little knowledge is a dangerous thing." Knowledge is POWER |

| Well, it's midnight , January 2nd, 2004. I'm eating my last ice cream before going to bed. In the morning, I will be experiencing a new beginning! I took your advice Barb, and did lots of reading, on lots of topics. I feel energized and ready to begin a new WOE. I am anticipating how much better I'll feel (not to mention look!). I will try to post my daily intake so that you experienced WOE folks can intervene if I'm doing something wrong. Have a wonderful day, and I'll be back soon! | I did begin, and feel good, except my appetite seems to have disappeared! I know that I have to eat though, otherwise my body thinks we're starving and shuts down! I have been eating a lot of fish and salad. That seems to be what i crave at the moment. Tomorrow, I'll pick up some turkey bacaon and some chicken. Then I'm going to follow the advice i got at my other favorite topic site-cook ahead and freeze! This is going to be very useful for those days when i can't get going as far as food preparation. I'm following your advice Barba and pampering myself as far as sleep and rest. i do feel tired, and i seem to need more sleep. but i remember that feeling from last time, and i also remember that by the end of Induction, i felt much better! So I'm embarking on my new way of life, with a new WOE. Not so scared anymore! Thanks to all of you. | Hello everyone, I know you guys thought I gave up. But I am pleased to report that I had completed the Induction phase as of Friday, January 16th, and lost a total of 10 pounds! YAAAAY! This time around, i really got serious, and stuck to my commitment-to myself! I had some problems with breakfast, but I managed to have brunch, which helped. Also, at night when i got those overwhleming urges to stuff, i ate Atkins fudge bars (2 net carbs). Those bars saved my life! I'm still going to do induction for two more weeks, as i would like to knock off another ten pounds. After that, i will move to Phase Two. I've got an Atkins catalog, and plan to order a few items if I can't locate them in the stores. I did reward myself today by purchasing a few 0 carb candy bars, and a pack of Atkins 2 net carb peanut butter cups! It was so easy for me this time. I never felt deprived, and i just stuck to my guns no matter what. i carried my lunch to social functions as well as to work, and I ate tons of salad. I've also been doing a lot of walking, as we have a walking team challenge going on at work. Sometimes it's been hard, becuase the weather has been rather ugly here in CT, what with ice, snow and cold. But I have been doing stairs at work. And i just realized that even though I live on the first floor, i can go up and down the stairs in my building as well. Also, my daughter and i plan to join Curves next week, and encourage one another (She's doing WW-loves her carbs!)Low carb works for me, and now I'm into it and loving it! I feel so successful and I feel a deep sense of satisfaction because i am achieving my goals. Thanks to all of you for your help and support. Will keep you posted on my progress. Karimah, that is a fantastic start!!!! I'm so happy for you. We have a Curves thread going over in the Exercise forums. So come on over and join us. I LOVE Curves and go faithfully 3x/week. Be careful with the bars, they tend to stall me. I would hate to see that happen to you too. I would use them very sparingly and only as a reward type treat. I went bonkers for sweet treats in the beginning, so I poured over the recipes up at the top of the page (green link box) Have you checked that out yet? There are some awesome recipes there. I now make my own sweet treats and don't rely on the bars at all. Just wanted to give you the heads up. Keep up the good work!!!!! | Karimah.... congrats on your dedication! Please don't forget the water... It is so very key to a healthy lifestyle. So much of our body functions on water that to hydrate well is to keep it really on... I didn't drink enough water for the first two months and stalled badly from week 3-8... then I found this site, someone urged water intake on me... and 5 pounds went in three days. AND, my knees stopped cracking when I climbed the stairs (I'm not THAT old, for goodness sakes), I didn't need to moisturize my skin after showers, my hair was brighter, people noticed that my skin looked healthier, (Aunt Flo was CONSIDERABLY cramp free), oh, the list goes on... Drink your water Eat your veggies! Hugs, Rachel 165/145/128 Haec trutina errat. (Latin for,"There is something wrong with this scale".) |
