i had been doing atkins for a while, on the induction stage, and so i bought this strips for encouragement;it showed the darkest color. so my mom tried them to, and she is not on a diet at all...very high carbs, and my stepdad and sister tried them also, neither are on diets and they all came up at the highest level of fat burning...what in the world does that mean?

That is VERY strange. It sounds like they are not working right for you.

Whatever brand that is, it really sounds like a bunch of crap.

I only use Bayer Ketostix. They're the original brand. They've been making them the same way for a VERY long time, mostly for diabetics. That's one reason it has a long pamphlet inside warning you about diabetic ketoacidosis. The original Atkins books recommended using Bayer. I've used Bayer Ketostix off and on for about 25 years.

Bayer Ketostix would never give a false positive for somebody not low-carbing (or diabetic). If that brand did, then I would just throw it away and buy some Bayer Ketostix from your drugstore.

Unless your step-dad and sister have some uncontrolled diabetic issues going on, it sounds to me like you got a bad batch of sticks. Did you buy them brand new? Was the package damaged at all? If you still have the receipt, you could probably return them and try a different package or a different brand.
