Hello, everyone. I registered here quite a long time ago and have been mainly lurking around the site but I just now had an epiphany of sorts and wanted to share. Lately I have been thinking about going into re-induction as I have gained nearly 30 pounds in the past several months. I pulled out my DANDR and a couple of days ago I bought the Atkins Essentials. But I have only made some half-hearted attempts and always seem to cave when the sugar-withdrawal symptoms hit.

This morning I was sitting at my desk here at work (yes I’m surfing on the clock, shhh… this is important!) . I started the day with good intentions that quickly snowballed into a handful of cookies. So much for induction today! Oh well, I guess I can start “tomorrow”. I got deep into a project and suddenly caught myself dozing off (trying to cut coffee as well.) I looked up, expecting it to be almost lunchtime. Imagine my shock and horror when I realized it was barely ten o’clock.

I decided that’s IT. I am TIRED of always being tired. I realize now that it is not just about wanting to lose weight (though I have nearly 100 pounds to lose) but also about wanting to FEEL better without the headaches, crappy sleep patterns and wanting a nap before lunch. Despite the cookie setback this morning, there is no reason to waste the rest of the day. Tomorrow is NOW.

With this site, and a new understanding of this WOE and of course, your support, I know I can do it this time. The next few days will be murder but I have to keep remembering it will be worth it.

Thank you already… I am so glad I found you.

I know some will think of this as cheating, but I know myself fairly well. When I started this WOE, on 1/5/04 I knew I was going to need help getting through the first week at least. I used trim spa. it's active ingredients are chromium and green tea extract. Anyway, it definitely helped me kick the cravings the first week. If you don't want that, but a good vitamin that also helps control cravings...try one a day weight control...it's only about $7 and has the chromium and green tea extract in it also..you can feel the energy it gives you and helps with the cravings...

That's actually quite a weird coincidence because just last week I started Trim Spa! It says it takes a couple of weeks to be optimally effective, so I'm hanging in there with it.

And I've actually already ordered Sharron's book this morning, before I even signed on here. If I'm going to make this work I need to learn how to make cooking lc second nature.

Thanks so much, guys. I'm not looking forward to the next week or so (like I said my withdrawal can get really ugly) but I'm trying to look past that and look forward to two, three, four months from now, etc, when I can look back and compare to how great I feel now to how rotten I felt then.

WOW, another Illinoisan. Welcome aboard, Drama. If you can stick it out for the first week, it WILL get easier. Post often, ask questions, let us know if and when you fall, we'll help pick you up. Just remember how great you are going to feel as a result of losing weight and eating healthier. YOU CAN DO THIS!!! Best of luck.

Drama, hang in there! You WILL feel the difference in a very short time--even if that time is terribly hard for you.

From my years of yo-yo dieting, I know that it takes an epiphany to get going--that moment when you just KNOW you can DO IT!

Best wishes!!

Drama,
What else can I say? I sat here in tears as I read your request for support and the responses from all our friends. Where else can you go and have such understanding. I read this statement the other day and we have heard it before it is: "Do We Think Alike Or What?" Very simple but it stands to reason we are all in this together. I can sooo identify with you and I needless to say felt your pain. Let's step beyond/over that thing _____(you fill in the blank) we all have it (that monster that wants us fat) and go full force ahead and acomplish the task at hand ie. have good health!
Thanks for sharing and please like others said stay here posting and reporting in we are a good support team learning from each other. And by the way I think you should consider using as your signature your powerful statement: "Tomorrow is NOW." That speaks volums to all of us.
Love you as a friend, already!

Drama,

I also wanted to say that I came to a similar conclusion around the end of December. This is my life and I did not want to live like that anymore -very obese, tired and hungry.

When I mentioned to my mother-in-law about starting my Atkins, she said "I will too!!"... but she said "I didn't start the day right". I said to her (and this has become my mantra) "you can go from NOW and FINISH the day RIGHT". (We had all went throught Atkins before and then over time fell off the wagon.)

As you said Tomorrow is NOW and I can only control NOW. This has helped my put those bags of chips, cookies and ukky food in its proper place when I use this perspective... I can control NOW. Today and Tomorrow is NOW!!!

Thanks very much for writing on the forum.

Just in agreement with Kay and everyone else who posted...I think it's SO amazing and strong of you to knock off the all-or-nothing thinking and move ahead with the day in a positive way despite a rough start. I know we all struggle with that, and it's so easy to let one cookie to turn into a binge. But it takes real strength to reject that way of thinking and make the change RIGHT NOW. Good luck and all the best!

The biggest thing that helps me is the challenge clubs! I love them! I'm participating in the Valentines Challenge and the "water drinking" challenge and they both have helped me tremendously.

Well, almost at the end of Day One... so far I'm right around 12 carbs total and am planning a snack for when I get home as I won't be eating dinner until a little later.

Feeling more or less tolerable... tired, perhaps, and vaguely anxious and fidgety for some reason. Maybe I'm still scared of slipping up. Hopefully THAT will go away as I start to his official ketosis and get some energy back.

Meeting some friends for dinner later... typical "American Diner" type fare... I'm already looking forward to a cheese omelet and a small salad. I'm also at 60 oz water so far for the day but i will get another 40 in between now and bedtime.

One day at a time, right?

Tomorrow is NOW.
