On January 5, with his doctor's encouragement, my hubby joined me on Atkins. He's been watching and helping me do the program for a year, and finally the threat of Type 2 diabetes and other internal damage convinced him to change his ways. (Which included a serious Pepsi habit and couch-potato inclinations.)

After the two weeks of induction, he says he feels so much more energetic. He has been enjoying his re-entry into weight training, and finds that normal daily projects don't feel so intimidating. The pants are looser, too!

I'm thrilled. The lack of energy he attributed to "normal" aging (hey--he's only 70!) will soon be transformed. And, as our family chef, he's finding a new spin on cooking, from a low-carb perspective.

Tonight, however, I'm cooking. Crabcakes from Sharron Long's latest. Can't wait! What a nice reward for a good induction.

Oh Barb, this is great! If there's anything better than the renewed energy and improved health that low carbing gives us, it's watching our loved ones get it too...woohoo!

Since you have been low-carbing on your own for a long time, it's obvious that you didn't try to push it on your DH. He saw your good example and came to it on his own....how very cool. Congratulations to you both!

How wonderful that you've been such an inspiration that your DH is joining you. Good for both of you!
