Balsamic vinegar contains sugar.

Go to this page, scroll down to the bottom, and read about vinegars:

Vinegar
I like things done the easy way...I just buy the cheapest full fat Ranch dressing I can find and go with that. At 2 carbs per tablespoon, that's the safest route for me.

red wine vinegar with olive oil is a good combo, red wine vinegar is what they will have at many restaurants, its low carb ( i think its 0 carbs) and its pretty good, i used to use it on my salad all the time, now i go for this basil and garlic dressing that i got at Trader JOes.

Walden Farms makes a sugar-free balsamic vinegar. I saw it at one of my regular grocery stores the other day. It was shelved with all the other LC and Atkins stuff. If you have a Cub Foods, that's where it was.

Do you like the creamy dressings? I used to hate blue cheese, now I LOVE it. Ranch is also allowed and good. Caesar and Green Goddess are also good.

I'm addicted to Caesar. It's one of the lower-carb dressings. There are a lot of different brands to choose from, so you can try them all. The best ones I've had, I think, are Litehouse brand Caesar, Ken's Steakhouse Creamy Caesar (0 carbs listed), and Safeway Select Caesar.

I've never been able to stand any of the Kraft dressings. They all taste like goop to me.

I don't use vinegar hardly ever...usually just white vinegar to clean my sons asthma machine parts with....but I do like malted vinegar on my fish. Does any one know what the carb count is on that or is it the same as the balsamic vinegar? The lable don't tell what the count is at the resterant where we use it at.

Tanya, my bottle of malt vinigar has no carb count on it either, but I can't imagine you use enough of it that often enough to mess anything up.
Barb, sugar free balsamic? Have you tried it, cause my very faveritest dressing is good seasons made with balsamic and olive oil, and I admitt, I cheat once in a while and have some, I just don't make a habit of it.
garlic ceaser and ranch are my usuals

No Jackie, I did not pick up a bottle of it. I got some of their seafood cocktail sauce and it was very good.
