Hello all, first re-induction weigh in this morning, and only a pound gone! Now, it's only been four days and I've been exercising a lot (with weights) AND it's almost that time of the month, so I know these are all factors. But I've been drinking AT LEAST a gallon of water each day and been carefully weighing, measuring, and counting each carb. I will post yesterday's menu to give you all an idea of how I've been eating (it's typical of the whole week):

B: coffee with (measured) cream, slice of egg bake (from the recipe section here)

L: 1/4 cup cooked spinach with pat of butter, chicken breast with a little mayo, 1 oz. cheddar cheese, and 3 eggs with mayo

snack: chicken breast, 1 oz. cheese (this was post gym, which was 45 mins cardio, upper body lifting, abs, and 20 mins pilates)

D: burger with light spread of dijon mustard, steak (about 4 oz) with 1 cup cooked mushrooms and sprinkle of blue cheese...after dinner, 1 tbsp cream cheese sweetened with a little Splenda

    Water: 5.5 liters

Am I eating too much? I don't have THAT much weight to lose so I know that it'll come off slowly, but usually when I carefully limit carbs, the weight just disappears! Any suggestions or comments would be great. Thanks!

I think you answered your own question. But if you want to fine tune your woe I recommend using www.fitday.com and start recording everything in your menu. Plus a pound in 4 days when you don't have a lot to lose is very good in my opinion.

Thanks, Rob. You mentioned Fitday.com in another post I read earlier this week, and I use it ALL the time now. It's great in that it lets you specify the amount/measurement you're using. And thanks for the encourgament. Patience is not one my strong points, so every positive thought helps.

Caroline, I think you could use some more veggies - could you fit in a salad at dinner or lunch? The spinach and mushrooms are a good start, but it's really hard to have too many LC veggies.

I'm struggling with this very issue! I LOVE veggies and usually eat TONS more than this, but I'm trying so hard to stay around 20 carbs...after factoring in coffee and eggs carbs(which I thought were freebies before and learned this week that they're not), I'm having a hard time fitting more veggies in. I would love to include a salad at lunch (at least!) but I'm worried this will push my carb count over the edge...I know everyone on this site really stresses veggies, which I totally agree with...but how does one fit them into a already carb filled day? Is it ok to go over 20 if they're veggie carbs? (Ohhh that'd be exciting!)

    Hi, Caroline.

Some of us have always taken the position that if it is 1.dark, 2.green, 3.leafy and 4.raw, it's free.

For myself, I arrived at that conclusion because I've never been able to eat enough of that food to do much of anything to my blood sugar.

If I make a big salad of spinach, romaine, escarole, etc., I count the after fiber carbs in the dressing or other ingredients if I add them, but that's it.

Also depends on how much you are trying to lose
if not a lot, 1 lb is better than none

AW, thank you all so much for the encouragement! It helps so much to know that there are people out there rooting for you, and TOTALLY understand how you're feeling! I hope you're all doing well with your goals as well.

Caroline, you are doing great, but yes, add those veggies. And don't forget to subtract the fiber!!!! I eat veggies freely. No on ever got fat eating veggies (LC ones anyway)

And don't forget, you are adding more lean muscle to your body, which weighs more than fat. You are building your muscles, so take that into consideration. Have you taken measurements? Do so if you haven't. That will be the true indicator. Being fit and trim is what's important.

Thanks for the advice, Barb. I included lots more leafy greans yesterday and upped my water, AND took the day off from the gym bc I was wiped at the end of the week. Havn't weighed back in (and won't until Thursday) but I feel great. It's ironic that when you're taking really good care of yourself, as this WOL demands, the scale kind of fades in importance...well, on the good days, at least!
