I found some flavored sparkling water (Clover Valley brand) and need someone to translate the ingredients for me. There are no carbs or calories of course, but there are 2 ingredients that bother me---Citric acid (listed second on the list) and Sucralose. Someone told me that Sucralose was the same as Splenda so I assumed that would be ok. But I'm not sure about the citric acid. I'll probably not drink more than 2 a day and otherwise drink "real" water, but I need to know if I'm getting some hidden sugar.

Maz, citric acid is added to many types of products as a preservative and to add the "tartness" associated with certain flavors. It it devrived from fruit, but there's no "hidden" sugar to worry about.

Citric acid is Vitamin C.

This would be ok to have, as long as you drink plain water too.

I thought citric acid was a form of C.
Well anyway, it's a natural preservative.
