So I was a gym rat for most of my life and although I took a year off, I've been back for about a month now. In the last couple of days, certain muscles have been beyond "sore and stiff". For example, my right tricep isn't letting me bend my elbow past 90 degree without a cringe of pain. I had the same problem the other day with my quad. Any link between a lack of certain vitamins or the WOE and the problem?

A quick google didn't produce a great many results. perhaps you'll find out more from other members. But I did find an article that might be relevant. Link is below.

Iron,

I just got into weight training. I did a little last summer. Vitamins seem to be a necessity for me with exercising, weights and WOE.

The reason I am sore for the first few days was I over did it for not doing it for six months. My muscle are still a little stiff for me. Generally after a week all the stiffness is gone but I still have some lingering. Someone said that building muscles retains water and we drink lots of water. I wonder if we don't need even more water.

Just my thoughts,

MeganRose, are you taking the supplements recommended on Atkins? Are you exercising to the point of needing additional electrolytes during your workout? Are you trying to progress too fast, that is tying to get back to where you "were" in an unrealistic time and not giving your muscles, tendons, and ligaments time to readjust? Are you giving your body enough downtime between weight workouts?
