Heavy Cream - How long does it last?

How long does a container of Heavy Whipping Cream last in your fridge? Is it like milk and only lasts a week or so? Is it like Cream Cheese and can last a long time?

If unopened, it can actually last quite a while (like 2 months)... if opened, it lasts a *little* bit longer than milk (thanks to the extra fat ).

But it's VERY easy to tell if the cream has gone bad... simply smell it. It will smell just like sour milk if it is turning sour.

It doesn't last long in my refrigerator. I'm addicted to it. I break up a sugar free popsicle and pour some on. Makes a great and very low carb treat.

If I buy cream it takes me at least 2 weeks to go through it. I've never had it go bad on me.

I have still used the cream, even if it gets a bit sour or clumpy. I figure it's like adding sour cream or a yogurt to my recipe.

Till it smells bad which can be quite awhile, I ALWAYS do the smell test so I don't get some yucky coffee

And if it does go sour, you can use it like sour cream, Just use it in a dish you would heat it in, like a nice stroganoff. But, yes, I've never had that happen to me yet.

I have had my get thick before. But I just add a little hot water and it get right back to normal.
