Oh dear. Well, if anyone is interested in the long winded account of my little slip up tonight, it's in the Journal section. But on a more pratical note, I've screwed up my 8th day of re-induction and I just want to check in as to what I shoud do. Now, I didn't have any high carb food, just a little too much PB (I know, not part of induction...thanks, TOM, for blessing me with such strange reasoning skills for a week each month) and the worst culprit, LC chocolate...right. LC as much a bagel.

Anyway, musn't be bitter. It's over now, and if I: drink lots of water, eat like an angel tomorrow, and keep up my exercise, I will be able to remedy this slipup, yes? And I should check my ketosis strips...when? In the morning? (Oh how depressing.) After eating LC all day? (BTW I'm working on my 8th liter of water at the moment. At least that's going well.)

Oh, help, friends. I know you all understand, which is why I'm spilling my guts tonight. I'll understand if you all need to have a chuckle at my expense. Grrrrrr...silly choice tonight on my part.

Those LC goodies will get you every time. But you need to resist them all during induction. Just remember it is only 2 weeks and all of us have slip here and there while we are trying to get use to this way of eating.

Just be careful with the LC processed food as it does cause some people to not lose. If you can try eating as much unprocessed food as possible that would be best. But I understand it is so much easier to eat a LC bar then fix a tray of veggies.

Smile and enjoy the good company. We have all been there with you.

cAROLINE, Don't be to hard on yourself just get back on the band wagon.
My husband eats those low carb candy daily and continues to loose, and when I see them in the house I always give in and have a tast! I told him he is only aloud to get peanut butter ones from now on because I do not like peanut butter.

Good luck all!!

Well, you have a good attitude about it, you know you slipped up, and you are doing your best to get back on track, if anything, the water is the best way to go.

My Wife has not been perfect on her Induction either, yet she has lost pretty good in her first two weeks, me, I have lost 7 lbs. I seem to feel that weight will be stubborn for me, I think my thyroid is screwing up my metabolism, but as long as I can keep losing I will be happy, if things slow down or stall too soon I will go see a doctor.

Stick with it, you are doing great, and try not to rely too much on the Low Carb bars, they may be a once in a while treat, but definitely not a daily food.

Thanks for the encouragement. Oh, if only I didn't like PB...

I'm already feeling a bit better, maybe bc the ketosis strips are still pink...

well the way I see it.. you could have ate a lot worse things than PB! You might want to go out and get yourself some LC PB or macadamanut butter or even almond butter. Of course.. it will have to be after induction because if your following atkins nuts are not allowed until after the first 2 weeks.

Just drink your water relax, and keep on going! The best time to check your keton strips are in the eveing... how ever if your drinking a lot of water then it most likely won't be accurate.

Remember this is a WOL! Things happen!

Caroline
Hang in there. I can't have P.B. around either. A jar only lasts a week at most. I get my peanut butter craving taken care of at my sister's house. About once a month I ask for a couple tbs and then ask her to hide the jar. She's learned over the years not to let me near any kind of nut or nut product if she wants to have any left.

Hey don't freak out about it you'll be fine. Think positive... you get to see you boyfriend this weekend and I don't think a couple tablespoons of PB are going to change they way he looks at you. And if I remember correctly you weigh something in the 130's right? Do you know what I would give to be in the 130's right now!!! So you slipped up, so what just get back on track and you'll be fine.

Thank you, all. And LOL, Rob! I like the Smuckers all natural kind best, but can't seem to find it in Montreal, so transport jars back here from the States ONLY IF I'm feeling particularly strong.

Thank, prinzess_fay, for the ketosis testing advice. I have been drinking so much water that as long as they're slightly pink, that's fine with me. And I LOVE almond butter, too...

and Gen, thanks for the kind words and a little dose of reality. Def good advice and I'm really looking forward to the weekend! (Sigh, only Wednesday...)

Hi again,
I just read your journal and I just realized PB is protein bar not peanut butter. (Sorry I'm new at this Anyways I read the first entry and I can totally understand everything your going through because it's been the same for me and no matter what a therapist tells me it doesn't fix it. It's also very discouraging to have a therapist tell you that eating disorders have a very high rate of relapsing. If you ever need to talk or anything or you just need support or to vent my e-mail is g_e_n@hotmail.com

take care
Gen

P.S. the weatehr conditions have improved for the weekend!

Thank you so much...food has always been an emotionally charged issue, but this WOL has really helped me learn to approach food in a healthy way. I've learned so much about portion size and nutrition, and my body LOVES this WOL even when the scale doesn't budge. I will def be in touch if I need to talk further; thank you for the kind offer.

And sorry about the PB confusion! In the post from last night, I really did mean peanut butter (chunky, organic, eaten with a spoon...yum ) I've been good about laying off the bars during re-induction.

Glad you have a good attitude about getting right back on track. It takes a while to get your system to stay on track 100% of the time. I have been doing this WOE since August and there are times when I just say, I am going to eat this... the next food I eat will be back on plan. This way I am not creating a LC binge. I am always trying to plan my food ... breakfast, and lunch are eaten at work, so I have to get that together the evening before. If I dont bring something good to eat, and enough of it, then I am looking for something I shouldn't eat.
We didn't get to where we are today overnight, it will not take a day or two weeks to get into the program 100%, don't beat yourself up, know that you are changing your habits, and habits take a good while to change.

Yes, the more I do this, the more I realize that PLANNING IS KEY. I've been planning my daily menus the night before and calculating the carb count, and then adjust throghout the day as needed. That's been working well, except for the two nights that I abandoned the plan and had my little slipups...but I don't think they've managed to undo the good work of all the the other days. I think exercising a lot is helping my body forgive the mishaps.

I'm finding that the better the plan is, the easier it is to approach an upcoming challenge. My current challenge is a weekend at home, where the junk and booze will be flowing freely...I already explained what I'm going to do to my BF, and told him he's free to do what HE'D like. Just count me out of all the ordering out we usually do. I'll make eggs, instead. And only drink really EXCELLENT wine, as a PLANNED treat. Can't wait!
