IMO 13 grams is too high to be considered a low carb food. If you try them, be careful about exceding your daily carb limit, and make sure you don't get knocked out of ketosis or otherwise stall.

That would be only 9 net carbs.

I have one low carb dinner in my freezer for a day when I'm too sick or too tired to make anything else. But the sodium is so high I don't usually bother. And like any other processed foods...do we really know what is in them or how they're made?

I don't waste my carbs on the pre-processed foods, there is way too much stuff you can make really quick that is way more tasty and satisfying.

I made beef soup last nite, with cabbage and some squash thrown in. I put in the fridge and that will last me a few days. I tend to cook a few meals at a time so that i have stuff in the fridge for whenever I want to just grab something and go.

Pork Rinds are a godsent !

Well, let's see. Turkey has 0 carbs, and green beans have about 4 per 1/2 cup. This whole meal weighs only 8 ounces. Let's say it's half turkey and half veggies, about 4 ounces of each. That would account for 4 grams of carbohydrate before subtracting any fiber content. Where are the other 9 grams of carbs coming from?

I really think that just about all the pre-fab, highly processed "low carb" stuff is bad news.

I think I could make a tastier, more filling/satisfying dinner myself, and know exactly what's in it, avoiding the processed stuff. I agree w/Terra, though, might be handy to have around 'just in case'. Of course I have LC food in my freezer that I've made ahead, for that purpose.

13 grams is not bad I guess.

And when you reach your goal weight and are looking to maintain, I see nothing wrong with it.

One thing I caught in the Atkins Diet book is Dr, Atkins was talking about one patient he was monitoring, and after she hit her goal weight of 139 lbs. she was maintaining with a balanced diet, allowing herself 2 potatoes a week, and staying around 142 lbs. after 2 years, so I guess you can add some foods in with moderation as long as you stay within your carb limit.

I just bought Wishbone's new Carb Options dressing (ranch and italian) 0 carbs, 0 sugar. Lawry's also has a very low carb/sugar steak sauce. "Carb Options" seems to be the name of these products. They also have mayo and a spagetti sauce.
