I HAVE FOLLOWED THE ATKINS DIET VERY STRICTLY SINCE JAN 1, HAVE ONLY LOST 4 POUNDS, AND NO INCHES. IT SEEMS AS THOUGH WHEN I RAN OUT OF MULTI-VITAMINS, I QUIT LOSING WEIGHT. COULD THERE BE SOMETHING I AM NOW LACKING THAT IS KEEPING THE WIGHT FROM COMING OFF?

I don't think one has to do with the other. A good multi vitamin is always a good idea, but I don't think it would make you lose weight just by taking it.

List some daily menues and we will see if we can help you figure it out.

Dr. Atkins wrote that many people, (specially those who had been on a low fat diet) have too few vitamins and minerals in their system. As Jen said, a vitamin will not make you loose weight by itself, but if your weight loss has slowed since you stopped taking them, then I think you have your answer.

Many, many nutrients are involved in the complex process of metabolism. If for any reason you have a deficit, it's a little like putting low grade fuel in a Ferrari. Sure, it'll run, but it's just not going to run as well. IMO, a good multivitamin/mineral supplement is really cheap insurance.
