Hey,
I have a question about ketosis testing. I have been on Intoduction for 2 weeks (and have not cheated). I take my ketosis test every two days. Just recently I have been in the nothing zone. I do not know what the problem could be. I do Tae Bo 5-6 times a week for 40 min a day. I also drink 8-10 glasses of water a day. I am not sure what could be going on. I have my veggies that are allowed and they are measured. PLEASE someone give me some advice. I am starting to get desperate.

hello,

why don't you post a coupld of days menues. There might be something throwing you out of ketosis. The one thing that does it for a lot of ppl are hidden carbs like them LC bars.

One thing I noticed is your not drinking enough water! YOU should be drinking at least half your body weight in ounces. As a matter of fact with you working out like that.. I would drink a gallon each day. This is very important..not only does it get rid of them ketons.... but it keeps you from getting dehydrated. If you don't drink enough water it can actually stall your weight loss.

The water thing sounds like that could be the problem. Here is what I eat...it usually does not vary much from this. I have a tight schedual with school and work.

Breakfast:
2 eggs
2 slices of bacon
1 cups of coffee

Lunch:
egg salad (made by me to control carbs)
1 cup of romaine lettuce

Snack:
Sugar Free Jello (about 1/2 cup)
cup of coffee

Dinner:
some type of meat (4 oz)
either another 2 cups of romaine lettuce or one cup of veggies and a cup of lettuce

Hope this might help you help me

That looks okay to me.

Experiment with testing yourself at different times of day. Everybody is different. You won't get consistent readings hour to hour; that's just the way it is.

Here is something I found out. When you drink a lot of water your ketosis strip will not read as high. The reason is that you are flushing your system well. By all means, do not stop drinking your water (in fact you might want to drink more). I get a more accurate reading if I test right before bed. The reason is that I stop drinking water at around 5:30-6:00 so that I am not up all night going to the bathroom.

Another thing that might help you is looking at the other signs of ketosis. Do you have the dry mouth (kinda pasty)... that is one sign. Your menu looks great, so I see no reason why you wouldn't be in ketosis. You may want to watch the coffee, it affects some people badly.

Good luck all!!

I know with a tight schedual it could be hard to get in the water. But it REALLY is nessisary.

AS for the veggies.. your not getting enough!
As a matter of fact your only getting about 5grams of carbs and thats if you drink your coffee black! For the 3 cups of romain lettuce it is only a net carb count of 1 carb!
Some how your going to have to figure out how to get in more veggies and more water. They are both very important keys to this WOE.

If you don't up your carbs you could become sensitive to carbs..(it happened to me). It could also send your body into starvation mode which slows down your metabolism and well we all know that is totaly counter productive. The weight loss will slow down... and just it isn't easy to fix slow metabloism. As a matter of fact I see it like getting a cut.. you never know if it will totaly heal or leave a scare.

As for the sticks.. quite honestly..they are addictive and misleading and plane out drove me nuts!LOL Some ppl never register anything on them sticks and loose weight just the same. I believe lawbooks is one of those ppl.

Thank you all for the advice! You have all helped a lot!
Oh and another thing...do any of you have any advice for how to get off of coffee! I have been trying for a while, and I am starting to feel like a crack addict! I always want a cup of coffee. Is there any thing that I can do to make it an easier transition from coffee to a decaf-tea?

I have never given up my full leaded coffee or full lead pop! I refuse to! It has never hindered my weight loss (coffee helps me staff off the cravings after I have had a day of HC eating), but there are some ppl who have problems with it. So if you really want to give it up then I would say start slow. Mix your coffee half reg/ half decafe. Do that for a while and then maybe do a quarter reg/ 3 quarters decafe.

I never thought of doing that. I am going to do that tomorrow morning! Thank you so much for your advice on this. Wow...I am still in shock. That never crossed my mind. Now I am really excited and I feel confident about quitting my caffeine addiction!

Yah, I'm weaning myself off caffeine again. I've stalled badly and went back to my half-caf. I grind my own beans and use 1 bag of regular Kona and 1 bag of decaf Hazelnut. I mix the 2 together. I am going to be adding more decaf beans gradually. I'm hoping that's whats caused the stall, and soon I will be losing again. I am also weight training, so that's part of it. More lean muslce = more weight but slimmer body.

So, give the gradual decaf a try. Drink more water and don't be afraid to add more veggies in.
