I was reading additional chapters last night, found where he mentions a temperature test (4 times a days) for hyperthyroidism. Says if you are below the 98 may be a sign. I have always been 1-2 degrees down. Just figured I was cold-blooded.
Does this work? Should I know be dr tested just in case? I was never concerned about it before.

Getting tested for hypothyroid is a good idea. If you've always battled weight management, a sluggish thyroid doesn't help. An underactive thyroid would be HYPO not hyper.

My body temp is always about 97.1--even on thyroid medication. I think it's a highly individual thing, and may or may not have to do with a health condition.

Best wishes.

Yes, I've been hypothyroid (don't confuse with hypERthyroid, which raises your temperature and metabolism) for 8 years. Even with my levels under control with the medication, my temperature is generally lower than the 98.6 average.

Hypothyroidism is very common among women. It also includes symptoms of sensitivity to cold, dry skin and hair, fatigue, weight gain, etc. Just a low temperature does not necessarily mean you have an underactive thyroid. I would recommend seeing a doctor, especially if you've noticed any of these other symptoms.

I don't think most doctors take the morning armpit temperature very seriously. If you ask your doctor for a thyroid panel, they can tell you your TSH and T3 levels, which are more important. They have to do that, anyway, before they can put you on thyroid hormone.

Thank you.
He's planning on testing all my levels in March, and I can request that one also.
