Sandy,

Are you drinking enough water? Believe it or not, that is a common cause of bloating. 1/2 your body weight in ounces of water daily is the general rule. 200 pounds = 100 ounces of water a day.

Also, watch the mints, etc. They do cause troubles for some folks.

You might want to post a new topic with your menus, etc. for folks to look at...

(((hugs)))

Drink lots of water

You can chew on mint leaves, but please avoid breath mints, etc.

Nix the bars and shakes. They often cause folks to not lose. Avoiding any artificial sweeteners until after induction is the most prudent choice.

It would really be best for you to start a new topic. It will get more attention from our vets that way

Hey Sandy, what I did in the beginning was to put a drop of essential peppermint oil in my water. That helped a lot. You can probably get that at a health food store, but make sure it's food grade. Parsley is good for breath too and all natural.

Mint leaves........good idea Sharron!!! Who woulda thunk it?

Sharron!! You are too funny. I measured in 2 inches less in the waist line this morning then MONDAY!!!! And I didn't gain but, I didn't lose either?? And I was looking at my upper thigh and I am thinking that they are looking leaner...
The tape measure never lies...the scale,..is sometimes simply evil!
And to think that name on the top of my is THINNER>...that is actually the brand name???? Funny huh???
Good Post Sharron!!!

Hi Everyone...
I have been doing Atkins for 18 days today, and I can't say much about it. I am OK with the cravings, and I have not cheated at all, but when I get on the scale, NO CHANGE. no, that's a lie, I did loose 6 pounds. Seems like not much compaired to others. I KNOW, I KNOW... you should never compare yourself to others. I can say that I check my Ketosis everyday atleast once, sometimes twice, and I am always atlest in the moderate range, but mostly in the HIGH. I can't understand if I am always in ketosis, which presumably comes from burning fat, how is it that my clothes still fit the same? How is it that if I am adhering to the rules without cheating that I see no results. I am frustrated. I can't lie. I did not measure myself recently, but I have measurements from a few months ago when I had to order a brides's maid dress (ugh). How do I keep the spirits up and keep on this when all I get is frustration and anger at the NO LOSS??? I guess I am looking for advice from others who may have gone threw the same thing.

Erin,
Welcome to LCE and Welcome to the "slow as a glacier" club. I am a member of the club too. But if you'll notice my sig file I have "30 lbs gone forever" posted. I ONLY lost 6 lbs my first three weeks.I know it's frustrating.
I read a lot of posts here and read the same thing for a lot of people, but they kept pluggin along. I eventually got there. I drank water, exercised, was always in ketosis, ate right. I am just insulin resistant. I know that and I accept that. I am in a stall right now. But I am NOT giving up. I've come a long way in 10 months and I refuse to go back to eating unhealthy.

Please list some of your typical menues and let's see if there's a little tweaking you might need to do.

What part of the Chicago area are you from? I am from the far west burbs. If you are in our area, we are getting a rather large group of people that meet from time to time for lunch. We are always glad to add another person. I am wanting to get a support group going, if you are interested and live close enough that travel wouldn't be prohibitive.

Again, welcome aboard and HANG IN THERE!!!!!!

Oh.......and do yourself a favor. STOP weighing yourself everyday.

Thanks for the support Barb. I live in Wrigleyville by the lake. I actually don't weight myself except once a week. Let's see what I ate today??
breakfast was 2 pieces of sasuage.
lunch was 2 hamburger pattys on the George Forman grill with some chedder cheese and a sliced pickle and water.
Dinner was 2 chicken theighs cooked in olive oil and butter, and fauxtatoes (4.4 carbs per seving) and two bottles of water. and 2 cups of green salad with CARB FREE dressing.
for a snack I had about 3 pieces of baked cheese... this weird stuff... no carbs or only trace since the entire bag had like 2.

I eat like I should. Really, I am very strict, and write everything down. My husband is doing it too, and we were trying to figure out if Gyro meat has any carbs. Not counting the pita, veggies or sauce. I've been eating them, assuming that they are LAMB meat, and then I went to calorieking.com and looked up GYRO, and it said it had 14 carbs per 4oz. I can't seem to swallow that's true!
I'm keeping my head up, and moving on in a better direction tomorrow. I actually have no desire to cheat.
Thanks...
keep the advice rolling in...

If you're ever out in the sticks, let us know, it would be fun to get together.

Can you squeeze some veggies into that menu??? Ya gotta eat those LC veggies.

I don't know about Gyros meat either. DH and I had Gyros a couple weeks ago. I had mine on a LC tortilla. It was soooooooo good!!! There may be some fillers in the meat, so best to wait on that until you are firmly in OWL and have lost some significant weight. I make the tsastiki sauce with Kefir Cheese and cucumber, out of this world. Kefir is a cultured milk beverage I brew myself at home. Oh it's sooooooo good.

Pepperann, you sound EXACTLY like me!!!! I only lost 6 lbs during induction. But look at me now!! I've lost 30 pounds now. It came off very slowly, but it came off. So if I can do it, YOU can do it too!!! Don't forget, the loss crawls after that initial loss, so don't get discouraged. It will happen!!!! You are actually off to a good start. And the best part is, is that my skin isn't all saggy. It has kept up. That's a big complaint about weight loss, saggy skin. So there's a really good side to losing slowly. Another good side to losing slowly is that it is more likely to stay off, for good.

It's great to have you with us, keep posting and reading!!!
