| I know it varies from person to person but i was just wondering if anyone had similar stats to me and could tell me how much i can expect to lose in the first couple months... right now I weigh 145ish and I want to be 123-125 by the second week in april (roughly 10 weeks) because that's when I'll be going prom dress shopping... is this a reasonable goal? | There's really no way to know how much you will lose. Since you only have about 20 pounds to lose it may be slower than the first 20 pounds if you had a lot to lose. If you're going to be on Atkins it's good to look at it as a lifetime way of eating, not a quick fix. |

| Terrasanct is right. There's absolutely no way to predict how much any given person will lose over a certain period of time. Right on another point, too: LC isn't a "quick fix." If you really want to get in shape for that prom dress, get busy with a daily exercise program, including cardio activity and weight training. | Well, you're talking about 20 pounds in 10 weeks, that's an average of 2 pounds a week. It's possible, since you're young and I'm assuming very active like most teens and that this is you're first time low carbing. If you don't "cheat" AT ALL, if you keep up your activity every day, etc. And of course, [your mother's voice] since you're under age, you'll not be having any alcohol during those 10 weeks.[/your mother's voice] What's much more likely, in fact probable, if you really stick to this WOE and stay consistant with exercising at least 30 mins 3x a week, is that you'll be down 2-3 dress sizes. Which is much more important for prom dress shopping. Get rid of the scale and get out a tape measure. Good luck! LCE member since March 2002 |

| How tall are you? What type build do you have? You can probably reach your goal weight by the prom, but then what? Be smart, eat smart, lose slowly and keep it off. Far more important than some number on a scale is how you look in your clothes. So make your goal to look and feel awesome by prom time, never mind the number on the scale. I started in the 140s in July, was in the mid -low 130s in September and have since drifted to hover a little under 120, but I am old enough to be your mother and I have a very light frame. When I did this WOE in college (per the first book) I lost around 20 lbs in a month. [This message was edited by sndral on 02-01-04 at 03:34 PM.] |

| My daughter tried this WOE to lose 10 lbs and after 2 weeks had lost 1.5 lbs. She really just needed to exercise more than diet. So make sure you are exercising beside changing your eating habits because the exercising in 10 weeks will pay off with a slightly firmer body. travellost-51 yrs Young 1/20/03 195/145 first time 1/5/04 second time 150/147.5/135 "I am allergic to carbs they make me break out in fat" |
