| I found Country Hearth Low carb bread today and it only has 4 net carbs per slice (no sugar). Granted the slices are smaller then normal and it is $2.99 a loaf. I tried some for lunch and it was pretty darn good! I was so glad to have a sandwhich for a change....we'll see now if it knocks me out of Ketosis..lol...I'll keep you posted on that aspect. |

| One thing that you need to know, though is that any substitute (bread, pasta, sweets, etc.) should be saved until AFTER induction. I don't know if you are still in induction (I assume you are because of where you posted this message), but if you are, I would strongly recomend saving the bread for OWL. As for the bread, 4 grams, is pretty good. I sometimes eat the Arnold/Atkins Carb Counting bread. It has 6 g net per slice, and I usually limit myself to about 3 slices a week. It does taste a bit different, but for me it's close enough. More importantly though, it does not knock me out of ketosis or give me any cravings. Started Atkins on 9/20/03 235-->188; 150 goal |

| I have a question regarding eating bread during induction. If your bread is not loaded with sugar and you're staying under 20 carbs..does it really matter if you eat bread? Seems to me that what matters most is eating your veggies, drinking your water, ridding yourself of your sugar/carb cravings and staying under 20 carbs. If anyone would like to comment, please do. As a side note, Country Kitchen light wheat bread is the bread I was always eating before I started this woe and I was pleased to know that it contains 6g net carbs a slice...I don't know if anyone else has this bread in their area, but it's worth trying...not a low carb bread just a bread naturally low in carbs. | GhstGrl, I would still recommend avoiding it during induction just because a lot of these new products are not always as low-carb as they claim to be. Their are issues of the glycemic index of the food and possible adulterants and perhaps even just false advertising. A lot of the problems that people encounter on this WOE come from eating high-tech fake foods. So, I'd leave them for after induction. (And, personally, I try to skip them). ************** "Sometimes I think you have to march right in and demand your rights, even if you don't know what your rights are, or who the person is you're talking to. | I have used Village Hearth Light Italian for years. Has 7 grams per slice with 2 fiber.Does not advertise as a low carb bread, but I suppose very soon they will(LOL). I have about 3-4 a week. Does not seem to stall me. Jackie |
