hi everybody

i'm not exactly a newbie since i tried atkins in the past. i lost 3 sizes but i was not ready for it and failed... i regained the weight in less than a month -that happened 6 months ago and for better or for wrose i have mantained that weight.

An injury kept me off sport for two years and now my metabolism is slower. i have just started taking a little exercise (daily walks, sit-ups...) because i can't exercise seriously yet. it is frustrating to get so tired after running for less than 4 mins.

i hope one day i will be as fit as i used to. eating too many carbs for so long has seriously damaged my health (when i was a sportswoman they were useful, but now my body can't abide them). i lived on pasta, potatoes, french bread... those "white foods" are the spawn of evil

i have read the books carefully to avoid failing this time, i have also understood it is a lifestyle, not a diet. i am completely sure this time i am ready for a change and hope to find (and give) a lot of support here!

i have been on induction for three days... my pants are already loose and i have no cravings. yay!

Welcome! We are glad you are here. I like how you posted your inches instead of weight. Your not a prisoner to the scale that way.

Good luck all!!

thanks for your warm welcome!!!

i do not use a scale because of waterweight... counting inches is more accurate, IMHO.

ok. so there should be challenges in either inches lost, or clothes sizes lost. That would be more fair.

Exercise would help instead of make you feel worse cause you aren't seeing the lbs off.

I always get confused when someone says they lost a total of 12 inches. where all does the total come from?

Hi, Linda,
I'm like you... a newbie, but a "not-so-newbie," having done this WOE before. Don't think of yourself as having failed in the past... that just sets yourself up for disappointment and expectations of failure in the future. Instead, think of the first time as a test run and use what you learned from before for this time. Remember, you're in this for the long haul... any "failures" are really just steps off the path. Get right back on, and no worries! It's a marathon, not a sprint.

It's great to meet you!
Julie

Congrats on coming back. I agree with Julie. The other times were just trial runs and things to learn. Like if you don't really change the way you think about eating then when you stop the diet the weight comes right back on. Your body like mine just doesn't need the carbs.

Good thing is after six months for me. It doesn't seem normal to eat the simple carbs anymore. Since you have proven to yourself your body doesn't need them and just turns those carbs into fat.
