Thread: expireing eggs :(

my husband works w/ an elderly man whom was given a bunch of eggs.. the gentalman asked my husband if we would like to have some that he cant go threw 1 doz in a month let alone 2...

he brought them home i went to make breakfest thismorning w/ them cracked them in to the skilit ..(shells seemd some what softer than usual eggs) the yolk didnt stay together... and so i scrambled them...

went to eat them .. and they just smeld horrid...

wont be eating eggs next couple days...

how long past exp date can eggs be edible...

two doz eggs in the garbage so sad

Honey, if they smell bad, they're bad. Don't be sad about throwing them out. Yes, it's too bad that they were wasted but it is MUCH MUCH better than being sick, and I mean glued to the toilet for one reason or another (enough said), for three solid days, as I was last year.

Trust me; I've been there and you DON'T want to go there. The lovely thing about eggs is how cheap they are, in proportion to the excellent quality of protein they provide. So go buy another 18-pack and smile.

I think I remember from cooking class back in school:

If you put an egg in a deep bowl of water and it floats, its rotten.

Admittedly I didnt learn a lot in cooking, but you never know
