Help! What do you eat when you're on the go and that's legal for induction?

My big problem eating things I shouldn't is when I don't have time to cook. I don't have a microwave, so anything has to at least go into a pot or under the broiler if it's going to be hot.

What are some good ideas for grab-and-go foods.

PS: Apart from salads, I pretty much hate raw veggies. ESPECIALLY celery.

    Hi Libby,

Do you like any raw veggies like radishes, cucumber, etc.?

Hard boiled eggs, deli meats, beef jerky, pork rinds, string cheese........

    Good luck

    Libby,

Have you tried cooking chicken strips and bringing them in a baggie w/ you? I know you said you don't like raw veggies..but can you manage some broccoli? It'll fill you up and is loaded with the "good stuff"...

Also, ACV mixed with water is a great pick-me up during class. Obviously, I've read your journal...I take ACV in a water bottle to class on Wednesday nights (6-9) and Thursday evenings. It really helps me get through it.

after induction, try some nuts -- almonds, macademias, even peanuts. Many people here think that they should be allowed for induction. Just be careful about portions. On the go, you can even buy single serving packets of planters almonds in a vending machine. Definitely a healthier option than a cupcake!

Another thing to consider is the Atkins Shakes. The bars are loaded with sugar alcohols -- very bad esp on inductin -- but the shakes are not. They come in chocolate, vanilla, strawberry, and capuccino. When you're really "on the go" they can help a lot. Some here are more "purist" and think that you should only eat natural food.. I agree in many respects, but sometimes you just gotta grab what you can!

You can also try a cold cut wrap. I sometimes take a piece of cheese, place two slices of ham on it, and wrap the cheese with the ham in it. Makes a good fast lc snack.

i do not care much for RAW veggies... have you ever tried to pre-blanch.. (boil in water for less than 1 min or around 1min...) it takes alot of the raw veggie taste out of them.. you can add a little salt to brighten the taste

also.. if you have the book go threw it you will find things like olives ect that you can have... those you can take w/ you..

i wish they had some kinda toaster friendly egg..LOL.. w/ meat in side like those toster pastries... lol...

    good luck..

Sharon's pumpkin granola is excellent! But...not for induction.

    Libby,

Your vegetable intake is so important. You might try blanching your vegetables. Put in hot boiling water for a couple minutes. Take them out and put in ice water for a couple minutes to stop the cooking process. They will come out 1/2 cooked with a little crunch to them. It really does change the texture when you eat them. I just put them in baggies and away I go....

I eat veggies! I'm just a salad person, not a crudite person. I hate peppers, celery, and carrot sticks (which we're not supposed to have anyhow.) Though maybe celery would be more tolerable blanched... I dunno. But NOTHING could make me like peppers.. yeeech!

If you can handle the celery, try it stuffed with cream cheese and /or smoked salmon. You may even want to try it with some natural (no sugar added) peanut butter.
