Hello fellow LCE. I just joined the forum. Thank you for all of the wonderful recipes. I'm down 14 pounds so far, but still got about 30 to go. I was doing awesome for 4 weeks, then here comes Valentines Day weekend, my nightmare. I'm a sucker for cookies. I don't know how much damage the weekend did, but does anybody know if I'm supposed to go back to induction phase after slipping a few days? I need to get back on track to reaching my goal.

Also, I've been on and off this thing before and I always seem to lose weight really fast, but I'm losing slower this time. This is the first time I've combined it with a workout routine, could that be why? I thought that'd speed the process not hinder it. Oh well, still losing.

I'm new here, too. I made my hubby a cherry cheesecake for Valentine's and stayed out of it...then I made an Apple Betty type thing and was only going to have a little of it...wasn't it the apple in the Garden of Eden that started all our problems? Anyway, I digress...I had more than I should've (which is NONE) and when I weighed this A.M., I was UP 4 LBS!! Yow!! That hurt! I told him to eat it or throw it away, but I am not having another bite. I know better than that. But, I guess I'm like a little kid, always seeing how much I can get away with. I am no expert, but, usually, to recover, I just get back on plan right away, drink extra water, and some extra exercise. You're not the only one who got shot by the sugar Cupid!-Maxibee

    Welcome to the fourm hawkdaddy.

I would recomend going back on induction only if you are out of ketosis. If you do go back, don't do 2 weeks, only for 2-4 days, or until you are back in ketosis.

As for loosing your weight slower, many people have had that experience. If you go on and off Atkins, your body sort of adapts, and the next time your weight loss is slower. That does not mean that this will not work, it will simply take a bit more time.

Post any questions you have, and do it as often as you need to. This is a great supportive environment to be a part of.

    Welcome, hawkdaddy.

If you've been really off-track for a couple of days, paladin is right, it might be worth going back to induction levels for a day or so. If you haven't been too far off-track, just resuming your normal carb intake, with a bit more water (and staying off the scales for a couple of days) would do the trick. You're the best judge of what will get you back to ketosis.

As to the question about exercise and weight loss, you're right on. When you start an exercise program, you build muscle. This is a wonderful thing, because the more muscle, the better your metabolism. However, muscle is much denser (square inch for square inch) than fat, so it weighs more (sqarer inch for square inch).

Replacing fat with muscle will often look like a slow down in weight loss ... on the scale ... but a tape measure will show another story.

Welcome Hawkdaddy, So, what did you decide to do? Stay on plan and drink plenty of water. If you are weight training, you most certainly WILL "gain" but that's okay. You will be leaner.

Yeah. I got back on the plan starting Tuesday, did great all week. I cheated a little last night, I ordered Mexican w/ no rice, but they forgot the no rice part. It wasn't all mixed in, only layered on the bottom so I tried to stay at the top, but I know I had some rice, no way around it. But I have been drinking about 96 oz of water. I feel great.

....just waiting for someone to notice the difference I know its for me, and my Wife is ovservant and supportive, but it be nice for someone else to say "hey, have you lost some weight?"

Sounds like you're back on track, Hawk. Don't worry, folks will start noticing soon. Like when you aren't wearing all those winter clothes!!!
