Another point on groceries-depending on which LC pland you are doing (I'm doing SBD), you can have beans; kidney, black, navy, etc. Those are very inexpensive sources of protein and fiber, and are "good" carbs. Also, whole grains like oats, barley, bulgur wheat, quinoa. Vegetarian cookbooks will have loads of recipes using these items, too; as well as soy foods (which I am not particularly fond of).
