Have you tried sugar free jello? It is only 10 calories and sugar free. I don't know if it is allowed on Atkins but it is definately allowed on South Beach and they are pretty similar. Good luck!

or you could try whipped cream, just add a packet of splenda (or not)and some cocoa (if you like chocolate). its great!

Sorry, you're probably not gonna like this answer
Induction is when you are supposed to be breaking your addiction to sweets. That is why the Atkins plan specifies no sweets on induction. As for artificially sweetened stuff, some people have problems with stalls when using A/S stuff with aspartame and sugar alcohols. You're worth this 2 weeks. Eat clean and give your body a chance to detox from sweets.

Yeah, I'm the same way. Always craving something sweet after dinner.

Once upon a time, I thought it had something to do with "conditioning" as a child because we always had dessert after dinner.

But, for gosh sakes, I'm 43 now and haven't had dessert after dinner since I was 18. I truly think it has much to do with my blood sugar levels immediately after I eat, because not only does this phenomenon happen after dinner, it happens after any meal.

Anyone else out there have any hypothesis about this?

    So, April,
Do you not ever have a LC legal dessert? I think I'm a lot like you...had desserts after lunch and dinner as a kid growing up. I, too, think it's a hard habit to break, even during induction. When I did WW, fruit was a dessert to me, and when in OWL, I really looked forward to having strawberries. Still, it's kind of like keeping that "bad dessert habit" around.
I would love to break the addiction which I believe is mental as well as physical.

Not usually, because just the sweet taste of it, albeit "legal", sets off a binge.

Must be mental. I've been accused of being mental. LOL

Went through induction and I went through withdralw from sweets/carb.s and I don't crave sweets like I used to. Before I HAD to have something sweet, not any more! It is good to have that control.

I too grew up having desserts and will still want something sweet to top of the meal, even if I am stuffed.

Something that works for me is to brush my teeth or just use some mouthwash. If I can't do either I will use one of those breath strips (or two).

I certainly can understand sweet dessert after dinner. After a long stressful day at work, and being good lcing all day including dinner, I want to reward myself, plus it's a destressing thing for me. I'm not in induction. I do have sf jello with heavy cream, or sf jello pudding. But I am careful in the amount that I eat. So we'll see how it goes.

I love sweet treats, which is really weird. I didn't grow up having dessert after dinner. We would have occasional treats once in awhile, but it wasn't a regular thing. And then when we raised our 5 kids, I didn't make desserts either. Now, I have something every night (legal of course) and it's usually something I make myself. During induction this was especially BAD for me. I used s/f rootbeer (half a can) and 2 TBS of heavy cream. Tastes like a rootbeer float. I got off that though because of the aspartame. My husband corrupted me with his sweet tooth, so I suppose I developed this "curse" since being with him. (17 yrs) But I don't overdo it. I have ONE serving and then I'm done. I probably overdo the sweet treats, but I try to use Stevia as much as possible. It's a natural sweetener, so I don't mind using it.

I think that the toothbrushing and or breath strip is a great idea! I did that when I quit smoking but never thought to try it when I am craving sugar after eating! I am at least glad to hear that I am not the only one. My husband does not understand.AAAHHHHH. It is awful to want to eat sweets after consuming an entire meal. I am reading a book right now called the carbohydrate addicts diet. I haven't gotten far but recognise myself in the examples that the author has given.

    I hear you!!
I just posted a long rant about eating the Atkins Endulge bars after dinner practically every night - and wondering why I gained 5lbs? DUH!!!!!!!! I was quickly informed it was the sugar alcohols - which by the way - don't affect us all the same way - I'm unfortunate enough to get the negative affect - I beleive my body process it as real sugar - hence the weight gain.
It was a real bummer because I'd been doing this for 2 months (this WOL that is) - way past induction - no cheats - or so I thought - and bam - 5 lbs.
SOme suggestions to you were Jello - I would be careful which s/f Jello you buy - there is one with aspertame (I think Kraft) and another with splenda - aspartame has always stalled me, and I've heard others complain of the same - the splend sweetened one on the other hand hasn't stalled me at all.

I too will take all the advice given to kick this after dinner charade! Thanks for posting the question - it was very helpful!
