| SO after talking to military doctors... I've realized that I should not lose 100 lbs and actually that I should be losing just a little over 60 total. SO here's my question... ....for everyone who had about the same amount as me to lose... did you have problems with alot of excess skin? And did you work out while you were losing? I'm just a bit nervous about only being 20 years old and having lose skin... not the most attractive thing to young guys and not the best looking thing in a bikini. |

| Megan Rose, at your age I don't think this should be much of a problem, honestly. Another benefit of this WOE, the veggies, protein and water are great components for healthy skin. As you take weight off at a slower pace, your skin has adequate time to compensate. Not to worry! [This message was edited by Kumus on 03-21-04 at 08:28 PM.] |

| Hi, Megan. So, if I understand it, you need to lose about 25% of your starting weight and you're 20. Naturally, the slower your rate of loss, the more opportunity your skin has to "shrink" with you. Even so, you won't really know how much your skin will come back until about a year after maintaining your new weight. Genetics and age are the two biggest factors. Youth is clearly on your side here and you may well wind up with virtually no extra skin after a year of maintaining. For what it's worth ... I lost about 30% of my starting weight over the course of about two years, and I was considerably older than you are when I started - 49. I don't seem to have very much extra skin at all. I'm sure that exercise couldn't be anything but helpful in regaining your tone sooner. I bet you'll do fine!

| Megan Rose, I lost exactly 50 pounds (ok, actually 49.5 I agree with the above; you are so young -- you have the wonderful benefit of still having a lot of elasticity to your skin! Of course, every person is different and there are no guarantees, but I think if you lose at a gradual pace, and you keep your fluid intake up, and you take your vitamins, and you exercise -- your chances of *shrinking your skin* as you *shrink your body* are pretty good. Keep up the good work!

| IS150., I have lost almost 50 lbs, still have about another 100 to go, and no sagging skin. I have been exercising (swimming and water aerobics) during the whole time I have been on the WOE.... So.... of course, as always YMMV, but if you are working out, you should be ok.
