Default Just Getting Started.

Well, I am very new to this. After being off work for almost a year due to a car accident, I have gained over 20 lbs. sitting at home. I need some help. Like I said, I'm new to this and my question is, "How does this work and how do I get started? Is there a certain number of carbs to take in each day and if so, how many and for how long?" . I need some help. Please.

Welcome, Dana.

First, pick a plan. There are several low carb eating plans with variations on approach. Then, read the book that goes with the plan you've chosen. Maybe read it again, so you understand the principles on which it is based. Then, follow the program. Check out the stickies at the top of the Newbies forum and follow the link in the bar at the top of this page labeled "basics."

Then, come here often for extra information and lots of support!

Post often!

A good book (the best I know of) for an overview of the many different low carb eating plans is Dana Carpender's "How I Gave Up My Low Fat Diet and Lost 40 Pounds". I think that would be a good place for anybody considering low carb eating to start.

Here's a link to it on Amazon.com http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg...books&n=507846
