Default New again to lc, whats the deal with sweeteners?

Been lc-ing on and off for years, back to it, on my own combo of SBD/Induction as of last week. Biggest problem staying the course has been missing my sweets.

Ive tried the various sweeteners out there, equal gives me massive migrains, sweetnlow makes me gag, splenda I hear still has tons of carbs in the packets and granualr.

I been making the ricotta cremes and use splenda, but when I start adding up the carbs, it seems really high.

Ive heard wind of the availabilty of commercial grade liquid splenda, but cant seem to find it.

Someone recommeded this message board, and something about some product that does not have the carbs, but I cant seem to find it.. anyone know anything about this? and if so have you tried it?

TIA
Lois

According to the boxes I have, Splenda in the packet is less than 1 gram per packet. The bulk box of splenda lists 0 carbs per 1 tsp. The DaVinci syrup I have (sweetened with Splenda) lists 0 carbs per tablespoon. Hope this helps.

Keep in mind that, by law, food companies are allowed to list anything less than 1 carb per unit as zero. So, even though the label says that a packet of Splenda is zero carbs, I count them as 1 each. Bulk Splenda has 24 carbs per cup-more than the packets, because of the fillers used.

Those little partial grams of carbs can add up fast, if you get into the habit of thinking they are all "free". Everyone has their own set of rules, of course, and every plan differs on how they handle carb counts, but I prefer to err on the side of caution.

Lois,
Yes, IMO, it's really that good! 1 drop is equivalent to 1.5 tsp of sugar.
As an example, I am now saving 3 carbs on my morning mug of coffee alone...used to use 3 pkts of sweetner in a large 18 oz mug! Now, just 3 drops with no carbs!
Color me happy

Yes, and it's my conclusion that the fillers are not only carby, but (especially if you're trying to make something very sweet) add to the funny aftertaste factor which I've noticed with both packets and pourable splenda. I love this liquid stuff!
