Smile Glad to be a newbie!

I am posting to introduce myself, not necessarily to ask any questions at this time...I am glad to finally be able to post on this website! I tried to sign up a few weeks ago under a different name, but for some reason I never received the mandatory e-mail to activate my account! Today, I decided to try to sign up again and this time it worked!

Although I am a newbie to this forum, I have been on Atkins since Nov 2003. It has gone really well for me thus far. I lost a total of 54 lbs as of April 14th, which just happened to be my 40th birthday. I have gained back about 5 lbs due to my recent vacation, but when I came home yesterday I knew what I had to do today.

Over the last six months, I have had just about every imaginable challenge and I have been able to stay on plan and when I fall off plan, I just jump back on! Most importantly, I feel like I am starting to live again. I DO NOT want to go back!

Now to my next challenge...I have a goal to lost another 50 lbs by the end of September. I will have to redouble my efforts if I am gonna make it!

This board seems like a great place for the kind of support I am going to need! I hope that I can also be helpful to others passing along some of my experiences along the way.

Welcome to the boards. This is a great place for support and information.
you probably just hit the week when the board was being moved to a new system - was a little confusing at that time.
It should be smooth sailing from here. Congrats on your birthday, and on your great losing. Keep it up!!

Hi. Newbie here also and VERY newbie to this low carb stuff. I've officially been doing it for like...um....3 days. Ok go ahead and laugh, it's a start. Considering some of the other things I've overcome if this works at all I have no doubt I can do this. Great site...back to lurking now.

Adana, everyone has to start somewhere. I can assure you, everyone on this board went through day 3 at some point.

Don't be afraid to post if you have a question or need some help.

Welcome, Adana.

Please make yourself at home and lurk as much as you please. LOL! While you are lurking, however, take the opportunity to choose a low carb plan and read the book that goes with it. Much better to start a long trip with a road map.

Everyone had done day three, day five and the headaches, munchies, and the like. Read the book for the plan of your choice and ask questions as necessary. Oh, Yeah and Welcome!

Hi everyone! I'm also a newbie (again!) to the low carb lifestyle and I'm very excited to finally know why other diets have failed me (and not the other way around). CAD has answered questions about my eating habits that I have never understood---and I consider myself a reasonably smart person . So off I go on my cabillionth-and final-weight loss journey. Just one question...is CALP an updated version of CAD? I have the CAD book and just ordered CALP, but am anxious to get started. Thanks for any info!!!

Welcome to you all! I joined this site recently and have enjoyed alot of support and answers to questions, not to mention tons of valuable information! And yes...I've had more than one "Day 3". That is usually the day the cravings for sweets diminishes, then I know I'm back on plan again! Get a book, read it, highlight some stuff you may want to refer back to and carry it around for awhile. This is a lifestyle, not a diet. My best to you all!

Actually have the book....read it more than once before I decided to actually try this. I was at the point of just ready to have my jaws wired shut or something but decided to give this a go first. Am paranoid enough I bought the test strips to verify anything was happening, so conditioned to thinking anything going in my mouth is bad. Testing in the mid range so SOMETHING is happening. Cross my fingers.

Nikki, in answer to your question about CA and CALP, yes CALP is an updated version of CAD. The Hellers made some significant changes from their original CAD book.
