| I believe breakfast is extremely important. Breakfast kinda "kick starts" your metabolic furnace for the day. Because you're not used to eating breakfast, I would start out with something small, like a few eggs. Then you may get used to eating b-fast as time goes on. It is necessary to eat frequent meals to keep your metabolism going strong. I would recommend eating something at least every 4-5 hours during your day. Although I don't use the Atkins supplements, I make sure to take a multivitamin daily as well as potassium and calcium with one of my meals. If you are in or have just come out of induction, you may not be getting all the nutrients you need. So yes, I think breakfast and supplements could enhance your weight loss.

| I think eating breakfast has been critical to my success. If I skip it, I am absolutely starving by the time lunch rolls arond, and then I am guaranteed to eat off plan. And then, I'm starving at dinner and it's another off-plan meal. I personally am not a snacker, so if I don't eat breakfast, I lose an opportunity to get in my fuel for the day. (Also, I am not very nice until I've had something to eat!) With that said,if you really aren't a breakfast person, just have a snack a little later in the morning - you really do need something to help rev your energy levels, but there is no reason why you have to eat as soon as you get up (like I do) or an enourmous breakfast (again like I do). Good luck and keep us posted.

| Most people do better with breakfast. I know I do. But there are a few very successful veterans on this board who don't do breakfast. I would, however, advise you to take at least a good multi-vitamin/mineral every day. It's a good idea to keep your bases covered in case you're not getting everything you need.

| I used to be a non breakfast eater, but after getting advice and reading so much on it, i have trained myself to be a breakfast eater. The important thing here is to retrain your mind and body to work together to your advantage. I simply started out very light, mostly snacking. But now i cant do without my breakfast. So its just a matter of retraining bad habits, just as you retrained yourself to eat differently.

| Newme2be, I don't eat breakfast, I never had and I don't think that I ever will. I never did in school either. I can't even drink water the first hour of being awake. It makes me nauseus so I don't do it. I haven't had any problems in the past losing weight. And since we don't have to worry about hunger I guess that isn't a factor here. Because if you are like me don't get hungry anylonger. So you don't have to worry about the late night binging due to hunger is what I am getting at. I have been lcing from about 4 years or so...off and on. Vitamins. I would simply pick up a multi-vitamin and take that. Best of Luck! Keep us updated! |

| Pre Atkins, I never used to eat breakfast. Since then though, I almost always have it. I don't think skipping it would have a dramatic negative effect on me though. IMO a multivitamin a day is essential, and the bare minimum of what anyone doing low carb should be taking.

| Been low carbing since 1998. I've never eaten breakfast, since the age of about 13. Taking supplements, IMHO, is essential. I don't get enough vitamins and minerals from my food choices, such as potassium and calcium, so I take those along with vitamin C and E, as well as magnesium and a good multi vitamin. The potassium and calcium help with leg cramps. My two cents...

| I never used to eat breakfast but after reading a lot of material, it seemed like it was necessary so I did. I think it really jump starts your system and helps your metabolism. It helps me not snack in the morning and hold out until lunch. There's this saying, eat like a king for breakfast, a queen for lunch and a pauper for dinner. It's helped a lot of my friends lose weight so eating breakfast must be beneficial. |
