| Hey there, I am very new to this, but I HAD to respond. I have fallen off every single "diet", I have been on. Why? Because I had always looked to the scale for my "pat on the back". Yes I liked my clothes fitting better, (and more loose). And yes people would comment on how I looked better. But all I focused on were those damned numbers. I have sworn off the scale and have decided to use measurements and how I FEEL, as my new "pat on the back". That scale can be a persons worst enemy when struggling with weight. Someone posted that the scale is a cheat and liar, or something along those terms. And I have to say I agree. Go with how you feel. And if you fall off, just know that we ALL have fallen off in 1 way or another, and just correct it right away! No big deal! Stay strong! Good luck! |

| mabel, so sorry to hear you're having a hard time! the way you are looking at it reminds me the way i used to think about it. i don't know if it will be encouraging or not, but i wrote some "rules" for myself to remind me of what this is about to me, and maybe some will hit home to you as well.

| Oh m y god, I just wrote the whole reply in quick reply and hit reply instead of the button on the quick reply and lost it all. GRUHHH Okay colorado adn goddess thanks a whole lot. Goddess I have read your rules and they are great rules to live by. I will use some of them. I dont feel to bad today knowing that others have fallen off. I guess the washed out feeling just got to me and I just chucked it. I began the induction again yesterday and will stick to it at least a week if not more. My strips are solid white so maybe it is not wise to use strips this week and just play the low card game. The scale, the hell with it. It is right 'i'm afraid, you know why? when my panties no longer fit and when my jeans cant be buttoned and when my bra cuts into my back I know I have gained a lot. So the numbers were correct I am afraid. Nonetheless, I will NOT use the damned scale again for at least a few weeks if I can resist. my husband is sick of me and the damned scale and the fat grams. it does not matter. I will lay off the scale and concentrate on the inches. I had a pretty low carb day yesterday and my strips were still bone white so I have to also lay off the strips. Of course my body had sugars in them from the strawberries so I have to wait the few days out to revert back to ketosis. This is hard to see them go to white all on only eating a few lbs of strawberries yup I ate 3 lbs YUMMY but at least it was not cake. My potassium is back up and I feel better but will go easy on this week as far as eating to less. I have improved the way I eat and will concentrate to spread it out more. today for breakfast 2 eggs 2oz cheese 1 wasa low carb crispbread 1 cup decag Lunch tuna salad 1/2 avocado dinner broiled ox tails sauteed zucchini small toss salad sounds pretty good to me. and I will lay off the nuts they may be hampering with my losing. Okay I know some of you are fed up of me and I can truly understand, so now I am all ears and will listen this time around. Thanks ladies. |

| Mabel just make sure you are eating at least three cups of veggies per day. Your last two menus looked kind of light on veggies. This is a low carb diet not a no carb diet. Are you making the tuna salad yourself or does it come from the deli? Some deli's put in added sugars. Just something to watch out for. I know how wonderful strawberries are this time of year. I polished off quite a few this weekend myself but I had a lot of yardwork that helped burn them off, lol.

| Mabel: You are being WAY too hard on yourself! First of all strawberries are legal (OK, not 3 lbs at at a time, but still MUCH better than scarfing down 25 oranges, or bananas). Second of all, you are going to have to get used to the fact that the lcoser you get to goal, the slooooower the weight will come off. For example, I lost NOT A POUND between September '03 and February '04, - I was 9 pounds from goal. Then I quit smoking and gained seven pounds, and I have not budged in weeks. I have been doing low carb for a year, and I will never go back, even if I don't lose the 7 pounds I gained. Why? Because at 137 I feel fantastic, am not hungry (rarely), and I maintain my weight. My cholesterol ratio is fantastic and my bllod pressure is down. That's what I focus on. So give yourself a break and hop back on the wagon.

| Just thought I would add my 2 cents worth. I have had that happen before to me and the good news is that I have found test strips that were a mixed lot of good and bad ones, also I found different times of day can change it. Now here is just a suggestion of what I would do or have done. Drink tons of water (helps to flush and process the sugar in the strawberries) then I would not have tested for a full 24 hours later. Also if you are moving more you may have gained muscle and not fat. Look at your inches when you plateau. I have found I do not lose pounds sometimes but do lose inches. Hope this helps. |

| Ladies, thanks a whole bunch for the advice. I do drink about 2.5 or more litres of mineral water a day. I do get the carb count up maybe to much. i dont measure by cup that is an inaccurate way of truly measuirng carb count. I weigh and minus the fibre. I have not tested in over a week but I have weighed and I am a wopping 139. Sure it is that time of the month and I am not going to get depressed over it. i will wait until about June 5th to truly see what has happened. My body fat is still a wopping 34.5 and you can see it to, no mistaking fat and cellulite for muscle. I waked over 30KM this past long weekend hiking in the Black Forest and had a great time. Ate low carb but a lot of meats grilled. I think the weight is due to the muscle that I developed hiking cuz it was all uphill and very steep vigorous hiking. So the weight is not the matter the fat is still. I have not lost inches but gaines 2 inches in some places and have one hell of a jelly roll around my belly. I have more hail damage than during a hail storm. Dont know what the hell is happening. but I have de decided to alter this high fat and make it low fat low carb and see in the next two weeks if I shed any of the fat or if any of the dents in my body goes away. Sure I may have gained some muscle in the legs but it is buried way way under in nasty fat that when you look at hte legs and thicks, calves, belly buttocks they all look like dented in. Really damned gross I dont know why or how this all happened. I suppose and can only guess, the high fat I have been enduring on this past 6 weeks has not gotten off the body but actually stayed on and added more. So today i have started back the damned induction but this time with some low fat instead. And I hhave to cut back on the cheese maybe that is what is not sitting well, I have cut back on the nuts also all those high fat. I have been prolly taking in a wopping 3-4,000 calories a day easy even on the low car. Mayonnaise and oils have a hell of a lot of calories. So i will just have to alter low fat, low calorie high protein. More more more exercise I dont know how much more I can do, been slaving for days one after the next. Burning sweat like a hog and still not budging. This is enough to make anyone jump off a cliff. |

| Hey, Mabel - gald to see you back. Again, you are being too hard on yourself. FYI, I always retain water when I have been doing rigorous physical exercise - if your muscles are sore, you probably will see a little water retention. I am curious - how tall are you? I see that you goal weight is the same as mine, so I am thinking you are probably about my height (5'6") in which case I have no idea where you are getting your BF% from. That seems really high to me. Anyhow, good luck with the modications - hopefully you will see some progress. My only other comment is that if you are exercising so strenuously, you may not be getting enough carbs, which could explain the stall in the weightloss. Let us know how you do.
