| If you're speaking of meats that you have cut at the deli counter, and not the pre-packaged kinds, then they are allowed on Induction. Things such as turkey breast and roast beef are fine. I would stay away from things such as Dutch loaf, ham-and-cheese loaf, (anything ending in "loaf"), and ask to see the package they are cutting the meats from. The label will give you the sugar content (if any) and the carb content. I used heavy whipping cream during Induction. Just make sure you count each carb serving and keep a tally for the day.

| I don't remember what DANDR says specifically about deli meats, but I would limit them due to the additives. Heavy whipping cream is fine in moderation. SF jello is supposed to be a no-no on induction. Hope this helps!

| Nascar, The purpose of induction is to change the way your metabolism works...you can also think of it as a 'detox' period. I guess if eating some SF jello means you won't cave and have 3 krispy kremes, then that wouldn't be a bad thing. But, induction is supposed to be a period of eating 'clean', whole, unprocessed foods. Lots of people find aspartame, the sweetener in SF jello, stalls them. Some people use it with no problems. Here is a prior discussion on SF jello. It also contains Barb K's recipe for home made SF jello which doesn't contain aspartame. Hope this helps.

| Sugar-Free JELL-O is not on the list of allowable foods. As for deli meats, that can get tricky; you're going to have to be very choosy about what you purchase at the grocery store. Make sure it has positively no nitrates/nitrites, no fillers, no added sugar, and the absolute lowest sodium possible. You'll find that roast beef & some turkey are both a good bet - but always, always ask. As for heavy cream, it's allowed - just keep it at a few tablespoons per day. |
