| Hi I'm new to this. I have to lose some weight and am interested in getting information on good tasting foods that are low in carbs. I was browsing a site called No Sugar Daddy. They seem to have a good selection of products - does anyone have experience ordering from a place like that? Anything I should know? Thanks Hungry Hippo |

| My suggestion--skip the low carb foods--eat those naturally low carb anyway--have salad veggies--lettuce, cauliflower, broccoli, peppers, cucumbers, spinach, celery, radishes, onions, and the like. Eat fresh meat fixed to your liking with no added sauces--a few dry spices maybe, but often they taste just as good off the grill or out of the crock pot of out of the skillet with a minimum of sauce and are much better for you too. Have eggs with bacon or sausage and veggie omlets for breakfast. Add chicken breast, pork chops, whatever other meats you like to your diet--fisha nd sea food is great for you. . .hkave it a couple of times a week, but skip the lc treats, ice creams, chips, down the road add in a good whole grain bread (here a lc product is OK), Carb countdown milk is good, as is the yogurt and smoothies for later on. Buy some Atkins or another brand of shakes for emergency snacks or meal replacements, find a good multi-vitamina nd stick with it-maybe add in extra calcium and maybe even other favorite minerals but the treatsa nd such usually are bad news. Sugar alcohols give me serious gastro-intestinal distress--I can't leave home for a bout 6 hours after a good dose of it--and slow down the weight loss of many as well. Most bars and treats are full of sugar alcohols and many react just like they were eating sugar with them. . .I don't,b ut have other issues. If you get started with whole real foods and don't start relying on the LC Junk foods you never will and it is healthier for you and much easier on the pocketbook!

Instead, allow your body to detox from carby foods, and clones thereof. After you have a good foothold into the low carb lifestyle and you're losing weight and feeling great (probably about two months' time), then add in one low carb product here and there, and find out how they affect you and your weight loss/health goals. My two cents.

| Ditto to Huskers and April! I know they are tempting but believe me, they only spell trouble. Stick with the basics like meat, veggies and good fats and you won't be sorry.

| Now, i am new to this site, but 14 months old on Atkins; and i found that what i missed the most when i began the plan was CHOCOLATE!! There are some very good lc brands of chocolate out there, and i have found some more online; as with anything, moderation is the key!! As for ordering online, i have done quite a bit of it in the last year, and have found some great lc foods to spice up my diet after induction. Be cautious, tho, until you find out how your stomach reacts to sugar alcohols!!

| I've never ordered food online - how do I tell if it's a reputable company? www.nosugardaddy.com says their site is secure. What does that mean? Any suggestions? |

| I always check that their site has "verisign"...and i also have a pin # for my visa card that i got through my bank...without that number, visa will not process any orders, so i am doubly safe that way. Hope that helps! Vicki

| Anything with Paypal is secure too. Why, may I ask, are you wanting to order things online? What type of things are you looking to order. I may order things like Almond Flour, Xanthan Gum and stuff like that. But I would stay away from the LC Cake mixes, cookies, candies and the like, until you are in maintenance. What everyone else has said before, stick with REAL food, and you will do fine. And REAL food is MUCH MUCH cheaper!!!! If you need a good website to order staples from www.netrition.com is excellent. They deliver very quickly and you get what you order. However, I don't know what the shipping time frame would be to Canada. Often, things get stuck in customs for awhile.

| i used to order from a site called sugarfreeparadise.com. they are no longer in business now. the only thing i recommend ordering from those sites are the tortilla wraps. they really come in handy when you want a "samwich". i ordered brownies/cookies/cakes. i was literally in the bathroom all day! stomach cramped up. it was horrible!
