    Default Smucker's Sugar-Free Preserves

How many carbs does this stuff really have? The label says that it has 10 calories per tablespoon, but 5 grams of carbs. It doesn't have any listing of fiber, so I'm left to wonder how accurate any of this is.

To add to my suspicion, I note that ALL of their low-carb preserve flavors have the same numbers. How likely is that?

I put in a request to Smucker's for more info, but I'd like to know what others here think.

I want to get some simple low-carb preserves to put on my flax cereal in the morning.

Doesn't Carbohydrate have 4 calories per gram?

So, if there are 5g of total carbs and no subtractions of any kind, don't there have to be 20 calories per serving?

Maybe they are subtracting the pol(y)dextrose?

    This is very confusing.

Let us know what you find out.

Is that the one with aspartame in it? I think, if memory serves, that is the only sweetener it has in it. I also think their numbers are squirrely!

I've been eating either La Nouba or Keto jams, which are pretty good, and I found some at Ralph's Market the other day called Sorbee in grape and strawberry, sweetened with Splenda. They're both pretty good and substantially less expensive than the first two!

Well, all I can say about the stuff is my kids and I all got very sick off the smuckers s/f jam

I don't use the ones with aspartame -- only the all fruit varieties...

I buy Polaner sugar free preserves for DH; he eats it on his english muffins (he doesn't low carb), and he never reads labels, so he doesn't know it's sugar free. Hehe. It's sweetened with Splenda, but it does have polydextrose in it. It also says 10 calories per tablespoon, and 5 grams of carbs. Something fishy going on here.
I make my own s/f jam; I smush fruit (strawberries, raspberries, which I put through a sieve to remove seeds, blueberries; sometimes throw in a little peach), sweeten with Splenda, and thicken with xanthan gum. Tastes fresh, 'cause it's not cooked, and is cheap to make, but you've got to make it in small batches because there are no preservatives in it.

Did a search and found this.

Did the hidden carb calculations from the nutritional data, and came up with 2.5 carbs per serving, which leads me to believe there are actually more calories than they are claiming because if you count 20 calories per serving, instead of the 10, the figures come to 5 carbs per serving, as they state.
