Question Bob's Red Mill Low Carb Baking Mix

Has anyone used this? I want to try the Pumpkin muffin recipe which calls for Atkins Bake mix. Well... when at the HFS today, noticed this product which BTW is considerably cheaper. It does have twice the carbs, but that might just be okay for me.

Thought I'd ask to see if anyone's tried it. Don't want to buy it if it's nasty.

    Here's the label info:

Looks good and 6 isn't too outrageous. The ingredients look fine to me but I am no expert!

I would say to use it with caution. Try it and track your carbs/weight loss to see if it might trigger cravings or stall weight loss.

FWIW, I ended up throwing away a whole package of very expensive Atkins Bake Mix as it was ~completely~ unacceptable from the standpoint of taste. It made hard, dry, little muffins that resembled nothing remotely edible.

I ordered Chef's Blend Flour and it makes great breads and muffins and the like! MMMMM It is a bit lighter and cakes come out a little less "normal" in texture but you don't sacrifice taste!

It has sugar in it. Turbinado is sugar in the raw. I saw it at my HFS also, but decided against it.
YMMV...good luck if you decide to try it. It might be something for late into maintence, but for me, at this point in time...no.

That is good to know--I have seen it on a couple of things I bought but never knew/figured out what it was!

I'm a bit leary of this Chef's Blend stuff. It seems to be based on the same magic as PipeDream pasta. 'Screws up my blood sugars so I can say that, at least, YMMV. I tossed mine, since it doesn't fit my relatively low carb allowance. I'd be more likely to try the Bob's stuff, since there's no magic involved. But I've got to admit, that I'd probably be put off by to the sugar and fructose.

    JMHO.

Well, I bought the Bob's Red Mill bake mix, 'cause I didn't check the label until after I got it home. (I NEVER do that as a rule, but this time I messed up). I made the muffin recipe on the back of the bag in the interest of science. Yuck. Very much like what I would imagine chewing on a celulose sponge would be. Not worth the sugar and fructose content, or the money, IMHO. I tossed them and the rest of the mix.
Try Char's bran muffin recipe...much better and no baddies in them.
