| Maria, don't be too hard on yourself. Just pick yourself up, dust yourself off, and keep on going. You've learned that you need to stay away from the evil fridge. So... maybe you could bring a small ice chest (6-pack size) to keep a supply of healthy food in: meat & cheese roll-ups, hard boiled or devilled eggs, cream cheese in celery, veggies and dip. If you are well-fed, those nasty carbs won't seem nearly as appealing. I've noticed that if I eat TONS of veggies, I don't seem to crave carbs nearly as much. And when you MUST have something sweet, try flavored tea with splenda, or mix up a some cream cheese with unsweetened cocoa and splenda. It really does get easier. Most of us have had many slip ups - the secret is in not letting a small slip become a major slide. Be kind to yourself, learn what caused the problem, make an adjustment. Welcome to this site! I'd be lost without the support and info I get here.

| Maria Speaking from too much personal experience with this -- just get 'back on the horse' and continue. Perhaps go for a day or two with 'clean eating'. Check in here often, I don't post alot, but check in daily or more often. You can do it. Becky |

| I did some terrible eating about a week ago. I felt like crap all day then and the bloat took a few days to catch up with me. Then I ate chocolate candy. Which was doubly terrible because it didn't even taste good. Anyhow I was then craving carbs. So I went three days clean eating. Just salads for veggie (not enough fiber by the way). But now I am doing really well and was down a pound yesterday for the week. Which really surprised me. I agree, don't beat your self up, I don't think two weeks is necessary but a few days may do you good. I found today was the easiest since my cheats.

| Maria, ditto! Do not beat yourself up over this. We are human! Having to work in a place where there are a lot of "evil" foods is hard, but the longer you are on this WOE, the easier it will be to "just say no." Also, going back to induction for a whole two weeks is probably not necessary, as Cushie states. Get back to ketosis, then start slowly adding the carbs to where you left off. But plan ahead! Coming down off a cheat will leave you with some of those old cravings. The ice chest idea filled with YOUR food is an excellent one! Climb back on that horse and get riding!

| Great advice, Maria. I work around food all the time, too, and I've found the secret to resisting is to keep from getting hungry. Have "legal" snacks available, and keep in mind how bad those carbs are for you...don't tell yourself you can't have that stuff, but that you choose not to eat something that is detrimental to your health. You will not feel deprived, I promise! Give yourself time to adjust to a new way of eating; it doesn't happen overnight, but it does happen. The time will come when that bad stuff just doesn't appeal to you. It happened to me, an avowed pleasure junkie, so it can happen for you, too.

| maria- first of all, stop feeling bad, which does way more damage than the carbs. anytime you eat off plan, don't feel bad, just realize that it was a choice, and so, ok, not the best one you've ever made, but certainly not insurmountable. next time, be prepared. 1. have something around AT all TIMES that you are ok with, like, and to keep you from getting too hungry. how about keeping your "legal" snacks in the fridge. 2. why do a 2week induction for one epsidoe of off-plan eating? recovery won't take that long, and punishing yourself is counter productive. eat clean a few days maybe to get rid of any cravings, but let it go for goodness sakes and keep on trucking! 3. anytime you make a choice to eat offplan, stop IMMEDIATELY and don't wait to "restart" tomorrow. it's not an off/on kind of thing. it's a process, y'kno? keep your goals in mind, and the choices you make MOST OFTEN are the ones that come home to roost. don't let it throw you. |

| Maria - resisting those bad food choices will get easier. At some point, the weight you've lost, the health you've re-gained and the improved mental attitude are worth MORE then a serving of any junk food. Regrets, guilt and 'should haves' are a waste of time (and lead to far too many people turning a cheat into a quit). Remember this is a new way of life for you and as with any journay you will hit some road blocks. Post and read here often, everyone will help you to beat those roadblocks and stay strong!

| I, too, work in place full of "no-no"s. I have found that, for me, it is best to steer totally clear of that area. I can't let myself have even a bite of the baked goodies because I can never stop at one bite. I tell myself I will just have one bite, but it never actually works out that way. As suggested above have some "on plan" snacks around so that way you won't feel deprived when everyone else is snacking. Good luck and hang in there! We can all do it together!!
