Default a day of much success

okay.. i usualy do terrible on the weeknd beacuse well hubby is home we go out to eat usualy somewhere that leads me to high carb mishaps..

we went to Red lobster... usualy i bomb by haveing at least 1/2 a bisquit instead i just took a little nibble that was praticly forced in my mouth by my little boy.. (2 yr old just dont understand) secondly.. they are haveing their all you can eat shrimp.. realy only option i could go for was scampi.. well i orderd scampi and they have this cocanut shrimp.. it is breaded.. but.. keep listening.. i picked most of the breading off.. and after dipping one time in to the pina colada sauce tasteing that it was sweet.. (it was excelent but.. i knew it was a no no) i just ate the shrimp w/ out dipping.. when she came to ask if we wanted anything else my dh orderd his shrimp pasta.. sighing beacuse that was my old fav.. i asked the waitress if there was anyway they could give me a portion of the shrimp w/ out the pasta haveing the alfredo sauce on it.. she went back and asked the cook.. and vola.. i had it.. mmm it was nice! orderd 1 more order of the scampi and woha i was full! and w/ my meal i orderd steamed veggies beacuse every other side is a high carb ...
i was proud of my self.. esp after we sat down and i looked and said. mm i wana get desert... and didnt afterall..

so.. take a seat and allow me to pat my self on the back..

Good for you, gilley! Way to resist and make better choices. That coconut shrimp is a killer. I haven't had it there but have at other places, mmm. Congrats on making it through a difficult outing without having to feel guilty.

Hey, gilley! Where have you been? I saw your post and I was glad to hear from you again! I know you work and have small children, so I kinda know where you've been! You made great choices at Red Lobster! MOST places are used to doing the l/c substitutions now, all you gotta do is ask. My sister and I went to Taco Bell a few weeks ago. (She had a gastric bypass and eats anything at Taco Bell! She has to watch sugar only, not carbs.) I asked for one of their "bowls" without the rice. The girl taking our order asked if I would like to subtitute anything for the rice. I was wondering what I COULD sub and she said "lettuce"! Perfect! It had some beans in the bottom of it, but I didn't eat much of that.
Most places have some great l/c options, but if they don't we can take our cue from you, gilley: JUST ASK!!

Good job, Gilly! The real trick, I believe, is learning to eat low carb in the the 'real world'. And you are proof that it can be done.

My son has been craving pizza. I decided to splurge. I drove to a nearby city where the pizza place makes a 'stuffed' pizza. It's a thin-crusted, deep dish pizza with a hearty helping of cheese, pepperoni, sausage (or any of the other toppings people like) plus a pizza sauce.

I ate the topping and tossed the crust. Two pieces plus half the Cesar salad sans croutons (my son and I shared it) and I was full. Sure, it's not exactly induction eating, but I avoided major carbs, made my son happy and didn't feel deprived.

congratulations, gilley! i really enjoy hearing about it when people start looking for options they CAN feel good about instead of lamenting what they "can't" have: that's the way to go! and next time you go to red lobster, you'll be ready!
