    Default Off track

    Hello,

The last couple of months I have been very off track on this woe. I will okay for a couple of days than I seem to stray. I am finding it very hard to get back on track again. Thank goodness I haven't gained any weight and have been holding my own. I love the compliments I have been getting and would like to keep them coming. I have felt so much better since I started low carb and I hope I can continue to feel this way. I haven't been exercising and the only thing I seem to be doing right is drinking my water. Thanks for being here for me and any suggestions would be appreciated.

    Hugs

    Red face Re: Off track

    Hello my dear!

As have many others, I was in your EXACT same quandry a few weeks ago. What pulled me through it was 1. this site, 2. being terrified of gaining back what I had worked so hard to lose, and 3. wanting desperately to suprise the heck out of my parents when I go home for Christmas.

So I chose a re-start day and stuck with it. Had a big carb blowout the night before, and then started Induction again strictly for four days, and eased back into OWL. Perhaps you will choose a different way, but that is what worked for me.

I've been doing really well for almost 2 weeks, and it feels so good to be "back on plan!"

    Best of luck to you!

Congratulations on sticking with your water intake! Sometimes it helps to focus on the positives, water is very important and its great that you have been able to maintain that.

Maybe it would help to start again with a couple of small 'baby steps' each week and build up to being 'on track' again? I know that helps me sometimes when I just can't seem to get into the groove of things. Perhaps make a mini goal of upping your veggies for one week, and the next week, add 1 more mini goal to the first goal...and so on and so on... Before you know it you will be on plan and feeling great! Just my opinion but I hope it helps

The fact that you didn't regain weight is very impressive and you are to be commended on maintaining your 30 lbs weight loss!

I don't know which low carb plan you follow, but this would probably be a good time to go through induction again (assuming your plan has an induction guideline). Induction can do so much to suppress food cravings, which then makes it easier to follow the WOE in the long run.

Do you enjoy a walk now and then? What about incorporating a 10-minute walk once or twice a day as a way to ease some exercise into your life? A short walk at lunch time or before dinner can make you feel good all over. Keep a comfortable pair of walking shoes handy (in your car, perhaps?), so your feet are comfy while you walk.

    Hi Nancy -
There is a simple slogan that has become power to me - ONE DAY AT A TIME. I know that I can do anything for a day. I set my heart to accomplish the task for today. Tomorrow is something I don't have yet so I don't have to concern myself over it - enough is the task of succeeding today. You really can do anything for a day. I suggest you take each day, one at a time and set your heart to commit that you will get through the day no matter what comes your way. You can resist temptation for one day. I used to tell myself that tomorrow I could eat whatever I wanted but today I am sticking to my eating plan. By the end next morning the success I experienced the previous day gave me strength to decide that again I could get through the day. One day at a time. You can do anything for a day.

Also, it helps to plan your day's meals ahead of time - then you can commit yourself (and post it here if needed) to eating according to plan. Sometimes when we feel weak unplanned meals leave too much temptation. When I feel weak but my desire is victory I do this.

Oh yeah, read the book - if you have read it - read it again. The info will help motivate you.
    Glad you're here with us.

Nancy - Sorry this happened but be positive that you'll get back on track. Good on the water! If you need motivation for exercise come join us in the Couch Fauxtato challenge. We all started out with very little activity and have escalated it over the course of the challenge.

Nancy, you CAN get back on track! You have the water down pat . . . and that is a big challenge! I still find myself short on water some days. As for exercise, that is a real uphill battle for me. I try to walk 20 minutes each day, but now that it's cold and dreary, I really have to force myself. Rob's Couch Fauxtato Challenge idea is a good one. Join us there! If exercise is tough for you right now, perhaps just concentrate on getting back on induction. Then once you are over all your cravings, start adding a little exercise, even if it's marching in place while waving your arms!

Please let us know how you are doing . . . .

    hi nancy.

i want to gently disagree with this statment: you're doing more than that right! for one thing, you're here. you're thinking and learning and growing and that's wonderful.

the thing i'd tell you first off, more than anything: don't beat yourself up! that's fattening, from what i can see!

seconding: acknowledge your successes. not only the weight you already lost (although that sure counts!), but the fact that you are continuing to work on your health and your life. that counts too, y'kno!

and if you're looking for suggestions, i have one: today, right now, add ONE step to what you're already doing to build up successes. you've got your water, so maybe you'll decide to cut out something sugary or take a 15 minute walk after dinner or whatever. NO STEP is too small or insignificant; if the step is in the right direction, you ARE on your way.

and this is important: when you take whatever new step you choose, also relfect a minute and feel GOOD about yourself and the direction you're moving in. be proud of yourself for not ignoring your issues and working to make you an even better nancy.

the battle starts in your head, as far as i'm concerned. do stuff that helps you feel good about you, and it will be easier to take care of yourself with healthier habits as well.

    much love to you!

Thanks so much for all the great replys, I really needed to hear something uplifting. The last 3 days I have been getting more on track. Eating more veges and today I did my usual 40 minutes exercise tape, it's been a while so I will probalby be sore tomorrow. I have lost 65lbs since January 18 and I have 20 to 30 more to go. I really don't care if the rest comes off slowly as long as it does come off. The one day at a time idea is great. I am in a 12 step group and I use this slogan all the time, I never thought about using when it comes to food. Thanks again

    Hugs
