*L* youre welcome... hey... when you get bored.... pick a person and go though their old posts... you can learn alot by reading one persons perspective on things... ;-)
*click on their name.. go to profile and select view all their posts..* or another thing is to go to the MEMBERS list and pick out someone.. maybe someone you have never SEEN on board... and read THEIRS... sometimes it gives you insight into why they might have quit...or what keeps them determined to succeed... every person has a story... and EVERYONE has SOMEthing to contribute to your knowledge...
you are right tho..... its nice to see that someone far away and in different cultures can and DO share alot with each of us!

I have a similar ritual also! The crazy things we'll do just to see that number move!

Anywho...had a good day! All eating on plan, no snacking, 45 min of exercise, 4c GT, and 112 oz of water. Let's just hope the scale is my friend tomorrow morning! :great:

I only THOUGHT I was the only nutcase of the group......guess not! LOL!

I've heard some unbelievable stories about the flight attendants trying to "make weight". Here in the DFW (Dallas/Ft.Worth) metroplex, we are all about the airlines. We have Southwest over in Dallas at Love Field, and DFW Airport is right between Dallas and Fort Worth.....and has it's own Zip code. (Weird: as I am typing this, there is a news story on about the airport on the 10:00 news!)

Anyway, they are very strict about how tall and heavy you can be on those planes. Have YOU ever seen a fat flight attendant?? See!? I guess fuel weighs so much, they have to keep the staff light as possible!

ANYWAY.....had a good day with my eating, water consumption, green tea, supplements, and I did actually spend some time on the Gazelle....while CSI was on. I burned 250 calories. I have a personal challenge of losing (and keeping off) 5 pounds per month. This should put me at my goal in December.

Maxibee, I also need to lose exactly 5 pounds a week to reach my goal by Jan. 1, 2006. Unfortunately, it's not happening. I've hit a major stall the past two weeks. I do hope to catch up eventually with a major loss. It can happen! :-)

Barb, it is indeed fun getting to know other people on the Internet--despite the warnings we have either heard from our mothers or are telling our children. LOL (there are dangers, too. But I don't think they lurk on the lowcarbeating board).

I've been to Hawaii to visit a cyber friend. I went to dinner with another cyber friend when he came from Chicago to California to visit his sister. And a third cyber friend and I shared a motel room for three days while we attended the Bouchercon Mystery Writers conference in Monterey seven or eight years ago. We talked about husbands and kids and giggled until late in the night like schoolgirls having a slumber party. Great fun!

Melissa - it must be frustrating to keep seeing the same number on the scale day after day.:crying: At least my scale has been doing me the courtesy of varying both up and down with the same few pounds (ughhh). This stall of yours will break! Somewhere in these forums I have previously read that some actually upped their carbs by 5 or 10 and their stalls broke - I never would have guessed it but it worked for them - YMMV. I think the body thinks its starving so it won't give up the fat & or extra fluids easily. Also, I have noticed that with your career you seem to eat out a lot - enjoyable but that can mean lots of hidden sodium and hidden carbs. I wonder if extra sodium is the culprit - I've noticed you eat pork rinds for breakfast - you might want to check the sodium content of the brand you eat. I had to get off bacon because of it - can only have reduced sodium or turkey bacon (1/2 sodium of regular bacon). It definately makes me retrain water.

TOM, who is very unwanted, is visiting. I believe all women over 43 (I'm 46) should be done with TOM and have healthy hormone levels for the remainder of our years. Of course, who cares what I believe - TOM doesn't seem to. Anyway, I wanted to eat all day long. Mind you, I wasn't craving sweets or junk - something in my head just wanted to keep my jaws moving. And I have not lost my appetite like I usually do when in ketosis. Ughhh!!! Well I snacked a little and made sure it was lc - angel eggs, chicken breast meat and 3 Ak-mak crackers (3 nc each) w/butter. Total net carbs today - about 27-30. I am still thinking I want to eat something and it is bedtime for goodness sake!

yes, I do eat out a lot. I use to be the Fast Food Queen, but now I'm careful about the choices I make at fast food restaurants and seek out the nutritional information--although this can vary depending on the chef (aka: Kid) who's making the meal.

Tomorrow I'm starting my workday in a restaurant over lunch. The last time I was at this restaurant I didn't take the time to look at the menu and ended up ordering a salad that I could eat less than half of. (I picked the lettuce and chicken out and left the chow mein noodles, wontons and mandarin oranges on the plate.) I brought home a take-home menu which I'll read before heading out.

Atkins shakes are now in the fridge chillin' for breakfast tomorrow. It's been weeks since I last had one.

As for TOM...I'm expecting him to come visit any day now, but like you, I haven't any idea why he still comes calling. It's not like i have any plans to increase our family tree. It's just a wasted trip for him because I'm never happy to see him and always relieved when he's gone.

I find that the Atkins shakes don't stall me in the least. I made a chocolate shake with one last night. I poured a chocolate one in a glass, added a few ice cubes, 2 TBS of cocoa powder, a pinch of stevia and a couple packets of splenda, whizzed it up with my stick blender and was in absolute heaven. I used to go to Shake N Steak for a milkshake once a week. It was an addiction. So NOW I can have them, guilt free, homemade and YUMMY. It's such a treat. Think I'll have one today!!!!! PLUS, I have been having horrible chocolate cravings lately, fixes me right up!!!!

I had my barley/oats/buckwheat porridge yesterday morning and it stuck to my ribs for 5 hours. I ran off to the store and forgot to eat before going. On the way home I was starving and had to rush to get dinner made, so I guess I forgot to eat lunch!!!! We had dinner and rushed out the door to move some furniture for my step-daughter with my SIL. Afterward I had my yummy shake. I got 3.5 cups of tea in and shoveled snow AND tried out my new Walkaerobics DVD. I'm almost down to my all time low of 138.5 again. WOOOHOOOO!!!! My stall has definitely broken. Now when TOM is completely gone, maybe I'll get back to my sig weight!!!!!

I was a scale person for years. Getting rid of the scale was one of the best things that ever happened to me. (I accidentally busted it years ago.)

Not weighng yourself daily changes your whole sense of the scale of time. When you weigh yourself daily or many times a day, you get into a mind habit of thinking of every meal and its effect. My mind is on the long term rather than on short-term fluctuations. Without my scale, I just try to do the right thing. I weigh myself at the doctor's. And on the floor display model at Costco, heh. It gives me greater peace of mind.

There was a totally absurd documentary about successful weight-losers on NBC last year. They said that one of the common characteristics of people that lose weight and keep it off is that they weigh themselves daily. I have heard people say that they saw that news report and take it serously. *sigh*.

I guess everybody is different and what works for one person isn't necessarily good for another. I've done it both ways. It is vastly easier for me without the scale.

Hi everyone. Even though I reached my goal just before Christmas, I find that I still need to be accountable for my actions. I only stayed at goal for two days and then I went over it again. Not that I did anything different, I think my body just likes to be around 151. I made it over Christmas with just a 1 pound gain and it goes up or down 1 from there daily. I have to weigh myself daily or I know I would just blow it. If I'm up a pound then I push the water the next day and I'm really careful about what I eat. I'm still not used to being this weight...I look in the mirror and I'm sure it's not me. But, I'm more confident and enjoying this woe. I've collected recipes from all kinds of websites and I'm putting them all together in a recipe book for future reference. Made my first homemade lc soup the other day and was it ever good!

HEY DOC, How ya doin'???? I know you are right, but with this green tea thing, I'm kind of doing an experiment and using the scale helps me determine if it's doing anything. I truly believe it is. And I had stalled for 8 months and now the scale is moving back in the downward direction........so stepping on the scale is actually FUN!!! But, clothes are a much better determination of weight gain. Whatever works to keep people accountable is what they should do. I just hate to see people here get discouraged by a little gain or a stall and give up. If you ride it out, the pay off in the end is what counts. (Plus the added health benefits!!!)
So, Ju, you have the right attitude!!!! You aren't letting yourself get derailed by a little gain, GOOD FOR YOU!!!!!!
