| Well, Barb, I guess between you and me crossing our fingers, it did the trick. The scale finally agreed with me. I stepped on this morning to find I had lost 3.5 lbs this week! This is the most I have lost in one week, in quite awhile. That just made me smile all day. As for todays check in - finishing the last of my water and GT now, took supplements, eating on plan, and exercised this morning. I would love to see this loss as a trend, but won't get my hopes up too high.

| Hey, biddy....that's great! Keep up the good work, you sound like you're really focused and on track! Hi, Doc! Longtime, no see! We're having a great time in our Turtle club! I totally believe the reason I am a turtle is because of yo-yo dieting. My body has become very adept at conserving energy. Heck, I could live on water and supplements for several months! I, too had a little gain Wednesday, from 228 to 229. Regains are something I do not want to see in 2005. Then, Thursday that pound was gone. Today, I'm down 2 more pounds. Like biddy, I'd love to see this losing trend continue, but I try not to get my hopes up. My eating was good today.....I took my supplements, still working on the water and green tea, and I didn't exercise. Hopefully I'll be able to walk this weekend....the weather is supposed to be nice. We'll be in the 70's soon. In January. Gotta love the Lone Star State!

| Biddy - you have a wonderful WHOOOSH fairy! Melissa - pre-planning your menu choices - smart idea! Tia - I am really excited to hear you reached goal! That is such wonderful encouragement for us. Maxi - I have been a yo-yo too. It really does slow down the metabolism - but I am believing that as I increase my activity level I will see things change. Good day today. Kept snacking to a minimum - so important if I'm going to lose. I read somewhere that one lc eater only ate fruit rarely until she got to goal weight because losing was difficult for her. I am considering this. Really enjoy my berries but maybe its too much for now. Don't know. I think one of my biggest problems is that I keep waivering - no wheat, wheat is ok; no fruit, berries are ok; no this or that, etc. carbs only to 30, carbs to 40. I think I need to get a battle plan and stick with it. Need to find the strategy that will work best for me and quit waffling. I have been seeing this in me - time to fess up and get over it.Karen

| I used to record EVERYTHING I ate and my weight. This is a good tool to see a correlation between what you eat and what your weight is the next day. I really should do that again, but I just HATE record keeping. Maybe after I get my house organized (New Yrs RES) I'll be organized enough to do that too!!!!! WE'll see........

| I ate OK today, but I felt hungry a few times--which is very unusual. At first, I thought it was because I worked a later shift, but then I realized that I ate pretty close to my normal times. Breakfast: Atkins Strawberry Shake Lunch: Taco Salad w/o tortilla chips (they put French dressing on it. Was good, but next time will order dressing on the side as they poured on too much. I figure it must have been about six tablespoons.) Dinner: Ground beef, onion, green beans Late night snack: pork rinds with cheese (I shouldn't have, but I was hungry!) Liquid: 4C green tea; 2C iced tea; 1.5C diet rootbeer /w whipping cream Calories: 1,400 Net Carbs: 23 (33 - 10 fiber)

| Melissa, you know why you were hungry? Because of the sugar in the french dressing. Sugar is very stimulating to the appetite. If there were 6 TBS on it, hooo boy that was a lot of carbs. Where'd you have that? If you have that again, make sure they don't put it on and bring your own diet French dressing. I had something like that happen to me only it was with pop. They switched my DH's pop and mine. I got his reg. coke and he got my diet coke. I was SOOOOOO p*$$ed. I didn't taste the difference, but he did and not until I had drunk half of it. Luckily it was a small. But if I recall correctly, I didn't gain any weight from it. I think I worked out hard the next day, and was riding my bike a lot at the time.

| Boy did I do something stupid. I ate totally according to plan yesterday and when I got home from work my hubby said he would like to order pizza for dinner. Well, what the heck. We hadn't had it for two years and I didn't feel like cooking. I figured I could watch what I eat for the next couple of days. So, I ate two pieces of pizza including the crust. Went down really good. About an hour later I felt like I had a hard ball in my stomach. When I went to bed, I had a stomache ache. Then I woke up this morning to diarrhea. That will teach me to stick to my woe. My body doesn't like a lot of carbs. But, it did me good to learn this lesson. When I weighed this morning, I was down the 1.5 pounds that I was up yesterday and I am right on my goal weight. What a way to get their though. Today, I'm eating properly. Breakfast: 2 hardboiled eggs, 1 small atkins muffin Lunch: 1 bowl cauliflower soup and 1 weiner, 1 piece cheese Dinner: Not sure, but it's going to be low carb I know that for sure.

| SUGAR?!?!? No wonder my FitDay software counted it as 16 carbs and zero fiber! To be honest, I didn't even think about the taco salad having dressing of any sort and, I was busy so I didn't ask. That's two salads from this same restaurant (a local place called "Millie's") that I either need to avoid or ask to have it modified before serving it to me. Normally, I use either bleu cheese or ranch dressing. Today, I ate at Subway for lunch. I got the baby spinach and chicken salad w/bell pepper, pepperoncinis and tomato. I used the packaged Kraft ranch dressing that is 3g of carb per serving, which I think is about 4 tablespoons. Breakfast was an Atkins shake. We are going to Chili's for dinner. A friend gave us a gift card for cat-sitting while she was on vacation. I'm thinking of getting some type of fajitas--sans tortillas--but I'm not sure.

| Well, guys, just chalk it up to a learning experience!!!! A bunch of water, some green tea and maybe some exercise should fix you right up. Melissa, you might want to clue those people in and mention that SOME people don't do sugar. They should REALLY be asking the customers if they want the dressing ON it or on the side, yanno????? Donna, sorry your body went to such extremes!!!! hope you feel better SOON!!!!!

| Hey, Barb! How's your ear? Donna, I KNOW my body doesn't like a carb load, either. After a few days of dips, chips, fudge, and eggnog, I felt like I'd been hit by a bus. Bloating, cramping, weight gain, extreme tiredness. Forget that! I hope that lesson will stick with me so I remember that at Christmas this year! Feel better soon! My menu: Breakfast: eggs and bacon A.M. snack: yogurt Lunch: salad with canned chicken and mayo, 1 s/f pudding P.M. snack: none Dinner: (at a friend's wedding reception) brisket, sausage, and turkey with one spoonful of BBQ sauce (I cannot eat it dry!), a pickle, and one spoonful of slaw. I had to have something in my plate of all meat! The only other choices were beans or potato salad. And bread, of course. I've been way off the sodas lately, but I had a couple of diet Cokes at the reception. AND I politley refused any wedding cake.....it sure looked good! My 2 pound loss stuck, so I changed my siggy....I hope the wedding dinner doesn't make me gain!

| Resturant salad dressings: unfortunately, many add sugar even to the ranch and blue cheese dressings. I usually order oil and vinegar to be safe (but make sure its not balsalmic vinegar - added sugar). I love eating out but it can be tough to get what I need. Tia - what a painful lesson - back in November I had my only major "cheat" since seriously beginning this woe in August. I ate about 5 pieces of pizza. The next day I had a horrific carb hangover - headache, sluggish, felt lousy all day. Won't do that again. At Christmas I did a little sugar - felt bad but not like what the pizza did to me. Well, I am going to quit waffling with wheat, or no wheat, etc. I am commiting to the following for a month: unlimited non-starchy vegies, and 1 lc bran muffin (5 net carbs) w/ breakfast (its my morning fiber). No other wheat, very limited nuts, no fruit, some lc milk (like in lc custard for dessert - moderate servings). I figure with the way I eat vegies this will give me about 25 - 30 carbs a day - most all vegie carbs. I am commiting here and now to stick with this until Valentines Day and see if I can lose comfortably on it. If I seem like I'm waffling - please call me on the carpet on this. I really want to stay steady for a while and see if this will work for me. I do pretty well with my water, supplements, and am now walking almost daily. Karen

| Okay Karen, you're ON!!! Maxi, my ear is better, but still get a stab once in awhile. Hopefully it will be back to normal tomorrow. Thanks for askin!!!! Back when I was pretty new to Atkins, we had gone to my BIL's wedding (about a year and a half ago) and I decided I was going to eat well at the dinner and then have a couple bites of cake and some fruit. So I did...........but I danced my fanny off all night........so I worked it off. My legs were SORE the next day. And I don't recall having a carbhangover. But I got right back on plan the next day.

| Barb, I guess I did! I was DOWN 2 pounds this morning (after the ritual and all business was done!). I stayed up pretty late, and I was a little hungry, since it had been about 7 hours since we ate at the wedding. So, I had half an "angel" egg and a little cup of s/f pudding, with more water of course. I was hoping I wouldn't gain, so I was pleasantly suprised to see a loss. That's 10 pounds in the 12 days since I went back on plan after Christmas. (If only I hadn't gained that weight back!) I know some of it was water, but that's okay.....it's gone! My monthly goal is to lose 5 pounds per month....a little over a pound a week. Surely that's doable. The only problem is TOM...I guess I'll have to up my green tea consumption at that time and exercise more.

| I'm still doing pretty well. I didn't get my usual exercise in, but taking down all the Christmas decorations has to account for something right? I was up and down a 12 ft ladder, and 3 flights of stairs all weekend. Anyway, food choices have been good, and getting in all liquids, and supplements. Hope everyone had a good weekend! Great job on the loss Maxi!
