I noticed on the old thread that Ju is back!!
Welcome back, girl! And it looks like you did a marvelous job saying no during the holiday temptations.

I'm hoping to move down from 205...I've been stuck here forever (about two weeks, but it feels like forever). The only time the scale changed from 205 was to gain a temporary two pounds on Christmas that I quickly lost.

Overall, according to my fitday software, I am losing a little over a pound a week. I think it was 1.2 per week. The only "cheating" I've done since starting this WOE was on Christmas Day (which wasn't enough to knock me out of ketosis) and that week of taking sugar sweetened liquid Benadryl.

At my weight, more than 200 pounds, I would still consider myself a Turtle with a 1.5 loss per week. Now, if I could somehow average 2 pounds a week, I might consider not posting in this thread anymore....NAH! I'd miss you guys too much. I'd just have to start eating more so I could stay here! LOL

Welcome back, Julianna! I'm glad you had a nice Christmas with no cheats. Good for you!

I may have posted this before, but it's worth repeating: I was at 227 this morning, and my goal weight is 169. Let's do the math: 227-169=58 pounds. Divide those 58 pounds by 12 months and you get 4.83 pounds per month I need to lose (to get to my goal by December 2005. I wrote out a chart in my notebook (I actually used 60 pounds and 5 pounds per month). It looks something like this:
January: 229-5=224
February: 224-5=219 (my b-day is March 3, I'd like to be in the 'teens by then.)
March:219-5=214
April:214-5=209
Etc., etc.
You get the idea. Losing (and keeping off) 5 pounds per month doesn't seem too hard, but I know....in real life, it is for me. But I am, as my signature shows, requiring more of myself in 2005. Here's hoping I can get to my goal, and I hope you all can, too!

Hello fellow turtles.
I'm here. my normal losing is around 2-3 a month, when I am not sloughing off, which I have been doing for about 4 months now.
Time to get back to work on ME!

Happy New Year, Turtles! I was up a pound this morning, to 228! NOT a good way to start out the year! I think it was from eating a l/c bar and not getting all my water in. I'm not freaking out about it. I'm still a pound below where I started my chart at in my post above.

So, my goal for every month is to lose 5 pounds. I can do it. The trick for me is keeping it off. I AM GOING TO HAVE TO STEP UP MY EXERCISE PROGRAM!! There is NO way around that!
What is your goal for the new year?

I'm glad to see that we are all getting pumped for the new year. Don't sweat the pound, Maxi. I've noticed that I can go up and down two pounds at a time depending on water retained the lost. The important thing is not to put on fat weight.-3

Breakfast: 2-egg omelet w/mushrooms, a big handfull of raw spinach and a bit of cheddar.
Lunch: fried cabbage w/a touch of sour cream, 1 oz. cheese and 1/8C of sliced almonds.
Dinner: I heated up a bit of ground beef and onion mixture and splashed on some Frank's Red Hot and called it a meal.
Liquids: 4C green tea; 3C Diet cream soda; 3C water
Calories: 1,503
Net Carbs: 19 (31 - 12 fiber)

I can't believe how tired I was today. I fell asleep about 11:30 last night only to be awakened by the midnight revelry, but was back asleep in less than 10 minutes. From there, I got a full 8 hours sleep. It obviously wasn't enough. By late morning I literally couldn't keep my eyes open. I laid down "for a minute" and woke up 3 1/2 hours later! I felt like I was in a fog.

I got absolutely nothing done today. Oh, the tree and ornaments are put away, but I have my dear son to thank for that. I really don't know what I'd do without that kid.

WOW Melissa, I've had days like that. When you need to sleep, you need to sleep!!!!! Are you taking any supplements??? I find that B-complex really makes a HUGE difference in my energy levels.

Welcome back Juliana and MaryKay. Juliana - I am impressed that you did so well resisting temptation! Congratulations!:bellydanc

Well I have had a pretty good day - meals were on target except I snacked too much. We were, of course, up late last night so we didn't get up till 9:00 - didn't eat breakfast until 10:45. Has a couple snacks in afternoon (pina colada jello - yum, and pepper jack cheese). Then we ate an early dinner at buffet at 4:30. I really did well there just having salad and meat. But this evening I did some more snacking beyond my berries dessert - some almonds (about 11 I think) and some egg custard. I guess all in all I didn't eat much more than if I had three meals but it seemed like it. Tomorrow I plan 3 regular lc meals and much less snacking. I'm much more comfortable with that.

I have started walking the past couple of days and today I bought a walking DVD with several levels on it so I can walk regardless of the weather. I know adding exercise is going to make a big difference for me.

Somewhere there is a thread with a printout for 100 days with no cheats - maybe Barb or someone who knows how to provide a direct link can put it in the thread for the turtles who are intersted. I printed it out - cute. Put in in side my pantry and plan to succeed - 100 days with no cheats! Someone may start a challenge also - but regardless I am challenging myself. I feel today was successful because all foods were on plan.
Karen

Supplements? It look like I can start my own health food store! B-complex, C, Co-Q10, fish oil, calcium/magnesium/zinc; a mega calcium/magnesium; chromium and a multi-vitamin.

About every second or third week, I'd just CRASH on the first day of my weekend. I would get up for an hour or two then go back and sleep the day away. It's really a waste of a day off. With the holidays and odd days off that I've had the past few weeks, I've not had a crash day. I guess it just caught up to me. I really envy people who can get by with 5 or 6 hours of sleep every day, day in and day out. I'm one of those people that NEEDS a full 8-9 hours of sleep every night, but usually get just 6-7 five or six nights a week. The odd part is that I sometimes get so wound up at night that I can't fall asleep until 10, 11 or midnight. Unfortunately, I'm an early riser (thanks to an alarm clock) with a biological clock of an owl.

Melissa, I've got a mini Vitamin Shoppe in my cabinet as well. I started out with a multi-vitamin w/Lycopene and added other supplements over the last few months. Here's my list:
A-Z type multi vitamin w/Lycopene
Glucosamine
B-complex
Calcium (usually coral)
Magnesium
CoQ10
ACV
Fish oil
Multi Enzyme
Chromium Picolinate

I also take lactase supplements when I eat dairy, since I'm lactose intolerant. My husband thinks I'm a nut, taking all these every day.....but who is the one who suffers from SOMETHING all the time? Not me! Since I diagnosed myself and began taking digestive enzymes, I rarely have problems.

As for the sleep situation, I've been reading more and more about how lack of sleep slows the metabolism DRASTICALLY. Like 30-40%. Yikes! One article said that ALL adults need at least 7-8 hours of sleep at night. Also, our bodies do their repair work at night....no wonder chronically sleep deprived people LOOK so haggard! I guess that includes me.....I'm a night owl by nature, and I've always had an early-morning job!

My problem is self-discipline.....on my way to bed, I always find something to do....and end up going to bed really late. Then, I have to get by on =/- 6 hours a night. Since I am requiring more of myself in this New Year, I plan to REALLY try to get to bed on time starting Sunday night.
