Default Lying, cheating, deceiving....

Barb is right. The scale is a LIAR!
Worse, it's trying to make me think I'm insane!!

I've been upset because I've been stuck at 205 for about two weeks. Oh, I've seen 204 and even 203, but when I restep on the scale I get 205, 205, 205, 205.

Today, I decided to try something a little different.
Pee, brush hair, step on scale: 203
Step off scale, step right back on: 205
Again: 205
Again: 205
Again: 205 (so far, this has been my normal routine. Now it's time for the change)
Hold unopened 16 oz bottle of anti-plaque pre-brush rinse and stepped on scale: 205 (16 oz didn't make a difference!)
Rinse in one hand and almost full 16oz bottle of peroxide in other hand: still 205 (There were at least 28 extra ounces, more than 1.5 pounds. And it didn't budge the scale)
Peroxide, rinse and 3/4 full large bottle of mouthwash: 208 (By now, I'm holding about 3 pounds. It seems like a logical number since 208 is three pounds more than 205)
and then....
Put everything down and step on scale: 203.

I'm going to try a new battery. If it's still acting crazy, then I'll probably get a new scale.

Try new batteries--but know that even that didn't make mine any whackier! I have resigned myself to knowing that on any given day it may show me up one or two for no good reason and that it does the down stuff about as wacky! I ignor the daily fluctuations and only weigh once...take that number and forget it for a week! Know too that kicking it around the floor may cause new results both up and down and that standing in a different location can do it too!

my mom used to tell me that it made a difference on how solid your FLOOR was under the scale... then they came out with digital and i figured that didnt effect the scale...who knows... i go by the doctors scale... and to be honest.. i dont find THEM all that reliable..*L*..
but... i STILL wear the light nylong joggin pants (emphasis on LIGHT) AND always take off my shoes... wear a LIGHT t shirt.... make appt in the MORNING... dont eat or drink BEFORE going... *L*.. yeah.. i guess you can see WHY i dont weigh at home...
although since seeing all the challenges and what not.. i keep TOYING with the idea of getting one...

still toying...*L*

every digital scale i've had is flakey as all get out. i can get different readings within seconds. lean up, lean back, move it on the floor, all different readings.

so i just look at trends. i know, i know, not obsessive enough, huh? har!

ROFL Melissa - I can just imagine you going through all that while screaming at your scale! I'll bet many of us are now ready to check the batteries, . Now I'm afraid to step off and on again - it might only confuse me.

Melissa, LOL! I have gone through the same thing! I think it may be time for a new scale. I think Barb has one that weighs in within 1/10th of a pound. Oh Barb! What brand scale is that?

DH weighed himself this morning so I asked him to get off and on again - I was afraid to do it myself. Fortunately, it registered the same both time he tried.
Relief....

I put a new battery in my scale this evening, but I didn't try it out. Like Karen, I sent someone else to do the job. My son thought I was a little wacko when I asked him to step on, step off, step on again, step off, step on one more time.

I didn't want to get on since we did the battery change after hefty dinner. I'll see how things work out in the morning.

This morning I tried the scale with a new battery. It still acted up. Stripped down to nothing but my birthday suit (that's a scary sight!) I weighed 201, 203 and 205 all within two minutes of each other. Why I didn't register 202 or 204 I have no clue.

So....
I broke down and bought a new scale. It will track my weight in 1/2 pound increments. The first thing sonly and I did when we brought the scale home was try it out, comparing it against the old scale. Except for the .5 pound measurement, they weighed EXACTLY the same! My old scale worked perfectly, no matter what we held in our hands or how many times we stood on it. Doesn't matter. We're keeping the new on and putting the possessed scale out in the garage until we deem whether it's trash or worth donating.

I'm looking forward to weighing myself on my new scale in the morning, even though TOM came to visit tonight. At least I'll have a better idea where I stand and were I can go from here.
