I love the jeans etst--I just bought my next pair of capris...size 8--they are where I have ot look at them every day...they remindme of what I want to get to and where I am going...am hoping they fit by the time we get to capri weather here in NC...which may be sooner than many places...but I can get them on already...but boy are they tight!

I had a pair of burgundy jeans that were put away when I ripped the zipper trying to force myself into them. I took them out last week, and after fixing the zipper, pulled those babies up like I had been wearing them for months. Boy, did that feel good. I just ordered myself some new spring clothes from sears....in a size 10. I used to wear a 24 1/2. The colours are so great....lime greens, corals and turquoise. I can just picture myself in white capri's and a turquoise blouse. I never would have worn white before...would have looked like the broad side of a barn. Now, I can't wait to get all dolled up and go for a walk for the neighbourhood to see.

CARBS of all shapes and sizes..*L*
anywho... get the book.. eh? do yourSELF that favor..*grin*

I also agree about the jeans test! Yesterday I put on my size 6 Liz jeans, and I actually got them on! They were still just a tad tighter than I would like, but when I get to goal, they will be perfect. These are my real test jeans, as most of my other jeans are the stretch kind, that are really comfortable, but they just don't seem to tell you when you've gained a pound. They only start telling on you at about 5 to 10 pounds. I have not been in these jean in 5 or more years...but I still kept them with hopes of one day getting back in them. I also had a size 4 pair, but that will never happen again...I'm going to give them to my neice, cause that just wouldn't be realistic anymore. Health is much more important than vanity. (at least that's what I've heard, but you wouldn't think I believed that if you had seen me dancing aroung my room in those jeans!)

Hi Kim,
I don't know what happened to me. I'm puzzled because I lost weight...yes, but I gained 1-1/2 lbs. Now my average is normal I guess (1lb per week), however, I started out losing 4 lbs. So I'm maintaining, but I did not lose as much as I would have liked. I'm sticking to it though.
The Jeans:
I can zip up my jeans and wear them without pain. I can wear them all day long and when I put them on I don't have to lay on the bed to zip them...nor do I have to wear them zipped but not buttoned at the top. My stomach has gone down, so that's good news for me, however, I gained 1-1/2 lbs, and this is without working out. Any advice?
Thanks,
Colette

Default Stay the course, Colette

At this forum, we like to think of Atkins (or any LC plan) as a lifestyle, not a temporary solution. Losing weight is usually the thing that gets us going. But learning the program is really the most important thing.

That way, by the time you've slowly reached your goal, you've learned how to stay there by eating correctly.

About that small weight gain. The body retains and gives up water every day. Weight gains and losses of as much as 3 lbs. overnight are not that unusual. It's all water. Try not to worry about it, and keep to your plan. Sounds like you're doing fine so far, according to those jeans!

i would have to agree with barb.. temporary water weight can make us ALL nuts.. which is ONE reason i dont weigh unless at the doctors office... keep doing what youre doing... keep watching those jeans and how they fit...

colette..you said youre not working out.. are you doing ANY sort of exercise? i love walking .. do it about 4 or 5 days a week... you would be AMAZED if you would do that for a month and see what a HUGE difference it can make JUST WALKING... i do have a gazelle freestyle elite that i use too... but even when i DONT use it.. and walk? the change is something else!
i hope you will continue to do youre program and add to it as you go...

Hi bkloots,
I've always eaten this way I discovered...minus the high carb snacking in the evenings (which slowly added a little weight). I'm glad I discovered Atkins. My husband started the same day I did and the week before gained the same amount of weight, so it must be water. You are right about good eating habits as a lifestyle. I love my meals now more than ever because I think I'm starting to learn how to substitute one thing for another.
Thanks for the encouragement. I know I will keep going because looking good also improves the aura.:butterfly

colette..*L* pretty? wellllll now... thats something that i never hear..(cept husband and what HE says doesnt count all that much..*grin*) but thank you just the same..*grin*
mashed potato diet eh? ewwwwwwwwwww i guess it would help me get SICK of the idea of eating em after THAT... hmmmmmm wouldnt THAT be nice..*L*
although it seemed to me that larger people lose faster.. after being on this forum and others for awhile i tend to NOW believe that it varies WIDELY no matter WHAT the size.. anyone bigger who has tried dieting for many years seems to make their metabolism SHOT and even seems to take LONGER no matter how big they are...:-(
sorry they switched your gym classes on ya... i have never been big on exercising EARLY...i am more of a night owl... but i AM a creature of habit... and when i HABITUALLY walk i tend to keep it up easier... and scheduling a time frame really helps with that.. thats for sure..

with only twenty lbs to go.. i am sure it will be slow going for ya.. but think about how much better you feel... and keep on plan.. it is SOOOOOOOO worth it for the way it makes you feel REGARDLESS of what a scale can say..

i hope ya fit into the jeans too my friend... i will be cheering along WITH ya!
