| I think that gal was unpardonably rude; and it's down, in part, to the pevasive smart aleck humor in TV and movies. Everybody wants to be a wise-a** -- ala "Everybody Loves Ramon" or "Roseanne". I just betcha she read the term FATKINS or caught it on TV and thought it was clever. And, she wanted to look witty and clever, so she borrowed the quip. TV characters say rude, but clever things all the time - and everyone laughs. In scripts ,the pain or rudeness of the snappy rejoinder or turn of phrase gets glossed over by the audience "laugh" track. It sounds like your co-worker needs to learn it's not like that in real life.
