Kate -
Excercise is extremely important. Not just for weight loss, but overall health. I know girls who are super skinny but in horrid shape. And overweight girls who are in great shape.

Schedules? Recommended an hour a day - most folks don't get that much in. Different people do different things.

That's the one thing Atkins offers - this is not a 'once size fits all' program. It adapts to YOU!

Good luck!
Dee

Exercise is non-negotiable if you want weight loss to become permanent...I swim about an hour 5X a week for somewhere between 800 and 1600 yards...half mile to a mile...the minimum I swim is 800 yards. I do some sprints (25 meters at about 30 seconds...swimming of course). I have been lcing for a year and a month now and I have lost 72lbs so far! I started swimming in March and could barely make 350 yards and now 1600 is hard but not impossible and I have gone from a size 22 bathing suit to a size 10 and from 22/24 jeans to size 10 and from 3XL tops to M or L depending on the top. Exercise ahs made the difference...

as already mentioned -- a combination of aerobic and strength training is your best bet

I knew of people who did not exercise and still lost weight, but it did seem the consensus was, that by building more muscle mass, your metabolism runs a bit higher... and it's just good for you, mentally and physically

I have a lot of photos on my web site showing my loss,

Girls:

Here's how to get your atkins symbol for your project, in the size you want it. Go to the Atkins site here.

Go to the link that says "Why Atkins Works", or just click this.

Hover your mouse over the logo (the big red "A"). You'll see a tag line that says "atkins logo". Right click on it and then choose "copy".

Open your Word application, and open a new document. Right click anywhere on the page and then choose "paste". You will see the logo on the page. Click anywhere on the logo and then you'll see little square boxes on the edges of the logo. Hover over the boxes until you see directional arrows, and pull the arrows diagonally until you make the logo as large as you'd like, and then print it.

That's how I'd do it. Either that or buy an Atkins product and cut the label out.

Hope this helps.

Forget about "how much exercise to do on a diet" - instead think about getting in something active everyday - 30 minutes is all you really need. You two are young - what a great time to learn to make exercise a lifetime habit. Exercising only when dieting won't get you anywhere in the long run.
